I was wondering what the big deal was. $3.5? Then I clicked the link and saw the $3.5 M(illion) in the headline. Thats incredible. I've always wished I could find something like this stashed on an old basement or attic. My brothers had a lot of comics from the 60's and 70's before they burned up in my grandparents old house. Sadly MY comics will never be worth anything close to this.

I read this at work today in the Post.
Fuck.
Imagine...just fucking IMAGINE finding the first appearance of Superman EVER in your goddamn basement in pristine condition. I honestly wouldn't have sold much of that shit. I would've read them all and sold whatever didn't tickle my fancy. I'd still make a killing.
Although, my buddy did make a good point, if you were to look at Action #1 and then look at a million dollars, you'd be pretty stupid to not take it. I am, however, obsessed with Superman so I would probably prefer the comic.
This goddamn story. Ugh.

Funny thing is...the collection found was only 345 issues big but it included 44 of the top 100 most collectible issues (according to Overstreet)!!

I would happily give up every one of those for the cash.
I'm not a collector (although, I DO collect). I just want to READ these comics. The first 20 years worth of Superman comics have all been collected in beautiful archive editions. A million bucks would get me all of those, plus everything else I wanna read, plus a condo and a car.

I struggle with being a collector vs. a reader. I am by far a reader. But, I do like to collect certain issues just to have them. I would say I'm a 75-80% reader and 25-20% collector. heck, my wife and I do have two matted and framed comic books hanging in our finished basement, Daredevil #1 and Superman 75 platinum edition (god I would love to have this autographed by Jurgens).

I mean, when I say "I'm not a collector" keep in mind, I have like, 15 or 20 longboxes of comics. What I mean is, I don't collect for value, I like assembling huge runs of comics to read.

Yes, exactly. I've never been one for value, regarding comics. I go for fun. Entertainment. Not mint condition.
