I saw the Superman IV one yesterday, but I hadn't realised there were more. I agree with the poster that the suit looks more green on the bluray, but I've compared to the discs I have and it's definitely not as prominent as the youtube video would have you believe.

Thanks for screenshots those help a lot! The videos did exaggerate the green.

It's amazing how blu ray shows just HOW bad the dye job was for Reeve in SIII....

Not gonna lie, I was hoping for a few clips from S3 and S4 where we see Superman fly from side (with wires) to the other side (without wires) lol. Like he's literally flying into the fantasy world that we're supposed to believe he is in lol.

I haven't got the DVD with me to get a comparison shot, but I was very happy that on the bluray, as well as wire removal, they fixed the patchy job that originally masked the wires as they passed the structure in the background as Supes leaves Gus, at the end of Superman 3. I think of all the shots in the movie, this one could do with a digital facelift.

If anything, it really shows how much Lester didn't care, but had money to throw around in S3--- whereas with SIV, Furie cared, but had no money. *sigh*

I'm probably the only one who Likes the SIII hair style. Christopher Reeve's real hair was brushed in with the wig that is why you see brown hair or highlights.

They should have done something to darken his actual hair even if he didn't want to dye part of it to blend into the wig like Kirsten Dunst did for Spider-man.
I think the streaky brown hair actually works for Evil Superman. Normal Superman...not so much.

The perfect Reeve-Superman "look" is STM head (face & hair) with S3 physique. Whether or not Reeve cared anymore while shooting 3, you gotta admit he really got into his best shape for it.

Well, it just boggles the mind. He had to look in a mirror in a dressing room and SEE how bad the dye job was. Did he just blindly trust Lester or felt like it looked good 'as is'. We know now how pissed Reeve was *(and perhaps rightfully so) that Richard Pryor's equal billing and screentime was for Superman III- so maybe he didn't care enough by that time, who knows--. (*Speaking of which.... Although head of DC at the time Jeanette Kahn takes the blame in the documentary for going with Pryor.... It's interesting to read that they only bent it towards being a Richard Pryor movie after Pryor went on the Tonight Show and talked about how much he loved the Superman movies and loved to be a part of it. If he DIDN'T go on the Tonight show and talk about the Superman movies...... wonder what we would have gotten instead? We know that Salkind's pitch for Brainiac/Superman didn't go anywhere--- but it's interesting to speculate what direction that they WOULD have gone with instead.....nuclear man?

Honestly CAM? I'm willing to bet the Salkinds would've simply went right for the Supergirl-Superman story. Reeve would've walked away, and we'd never even have had Superman 3.
Though it might have meant getting "Quest for Peace" sooner, and THAT might've been our Part 3 instead. Of course that would've probably meant that Canon would've used their budget for S3 on the "Missing in Action" movies instead of Master of the Universe lol.

I've been very impressed with the restoration job on the blu ray releases. While still not perfect, it was almost like watching these films for the first time again. And I agree that those Youtube comparison clips do exaggerate the green in Supes' costume on the blu ray releases.

Well.... we know that the screenwriters tailored the script to fit in Pryor... but what I don't know is whether or not it still would have been mostly the same plot or not, if Pryor didn't get involved.
We also know that at one point, Reeve said 'yes' to a cameo in Supergirl, (Helen Slater talked about how they met and hung out for a bit in the interviews), but pulled out..... was it due to bad blood over SIII with the producers? Or was it just the script? (Which was only ok, but far better than what came out in the theatrical).
In more ways than one, while SIII wasn't the last Reeve Supes film to be made, if it ended up pushing Reeve away from the franchise prematurely while it was still 'hot', (SIII still made a profit, although it didn't gross as much as STM/SII) then it's one more reason to be annoyed at the folks who made or allowed SIII to develop the way it did....
