Blue is too dark, \S/ is too big, neckline is all wrong, eyes are brown, face is too ethnic.

The cape attachment on the shoulders looks odd, but I think it is faithful to the comics. Some things just don't translate well to the screen (like SR photography)

The shoulder things are a bit funky, but I still think this is WAYYY better than the MOS costume right now. On the flip side, I agree that in BOTH this picture and Alex Ross's paintings the 'S' shield are TOO big.

Give me the MOS costume anytime. At least it looks professional. Cain looked like he was ready to hit a Halloween party. I know his mom made it but it still shouldn't look that cheap. Cain looks like he's ready to lead the cheap ass CBS failed to launch Justice League The L&C costume was terrible. Not only was the S too big but because it was so big and the way it was put on it always looked wrinkled.

The oversized "S" and wide/low neckline don't do Cain's physique (which is actually quite impressive) any favors. That costume wouldn't look good on ANYONE.
I like the blue, though.
That belt looks bizarre. Never understood that.

Technically, does Superman HAVE to be a tall guy? Wolverine was a popular character way before Hugh Jackman transformed him into a tall guy. Considering he'd still be invulnerable, able to melt people with his eyes, and leap over tall buildings in a single bound, etc. etc.- I think he'd still command respect at 5'2".... (Or even 3'2" for that matter. Now, THAT would be a genuine change of direction, if they really wanted to re-invent Supes. A Supes shorter than Lois. I'd be fine with it...)

Traditionally, Supes is depicted as between 6'2 and 6'4. However, Golden Age Supes appeared to be a shorter guy (not like, Wolverine short, but shorter than what we're used to), and some modern artists, particularly Keith Giffen (who draws a GREAT, really physical, tough Supes) will draw him as not necessarily a towering presence.
As a shorter guy, I'm certainly sympathetic to that, but I don't think Supes should be under 5'10. However, I never got the impression that Dean Cain was "too short" for the role, either.

True--- but I figure if at one time, Nicholas Cage with long hair could be Kal-el and Chris Rock could be Jimmy Olsen (*though admittedly this may have been a rumor with the Burton version)- anything goes, no?

When Cage and Rock were on Howard Stern together they confirmed that the rumor that Rock was up for Jimmy Olsen was true. He was in negotiations and I wouldn't have been shocked if he got it.

Technically, Jackman didn't tranform Wolverine into a tall guy. He's just a tall guy playing Wolverine in the movies. Wolvie is still a short guy in the comics and every other media out there.

I do remember Wolverine being drawn a bit taller during the Morrison run, though, and I remember being irritated by that and assuming Jackson's playing him in the movies having had anything to do with that..... but I haven't kept up with recent xmen comics. I'm VERY glad if he hasn't been changed from being he runt he was when he was drawn by Cockrum and Byrne back in the day! Short guys don't get enough credit in real life, glad if they get some justice in superhero comics!

Isn't the Rock taller than Cage? The more that's revealed about the Burton version, the more weird (and yet fascinating) it gets. Burton would have been perfect for making a movie of Bizzarro Superman.... but then again, maybe that's what he was secretly making at the time!

That's what I miss in superhero movies. Terrible puns.
