Garth Ennis is writing a new Shadow series for Dynamite, and the first issue is out. I must say, it's pretty good. Hits the right tone for the character, for me anyway. In this version, the Shadow is like the movie in terms of powers: he's using psychic abilities to cloud men's mind to hide in plain sight and compell others to his will.
Ths story is shaping up to be intriguing, the art is crisp and consistent from page to page, and the characters are well defined. The digital copy I bought includes four covers, one by Alex Ross.
If you like the Shadow, check it out.

I picked up issue 1 on Thursday. I think I got the Ross cover...the classic image of his face?
I haven't read it yet but am looking forward to it. Can't go wrong with Gareth Ennis.

I wasn't impressed by this, and I really wanted to be. Maybe I was in a shitty mood when I read it. I'm gonna give it another shot.

Anyone seen issue 2 yet? I know it's out on paper, but Comixology doesn't have it. I emailed the company, hopefully I'll get a response.

If you like the heroes of the 30s pulp era, The Shadow has not disappointed. I highly recommend it.
Also, a team-up just kicked off, called Masks. It features The Shadow, The Green Hornet and Kato, and The Spider. The entire thing is being painted by Ross. Pretty decent first issue, so I'll pick it up.
