I whipped up a music video this evening ive been wanting to do for awhile. Paul Fishman from the band Re-flex provided original pop songs for Superman IV. Most of his work was supposed to be featured in the Metro Club sequence but due to large cuts to the films length the scene was dropped and the music never saw the light of day till the Superman soundtrack release a couple of years ago by filmscoremonthly.com Its a great track and i thought it would be best to mix the music to the film. Enjoy.

Not a knock on your video, but that song sounds a lot like the Peter Gabriel song "Big Time". I know there are plenty of 80's pop songs that sound similar, but this one is too much for me to care for. I guess if I had to put my finger on it, you know when E! or someone else does a cheep documentary on a musician, but they can't afford to get the rights to the real song? They use music that sounds ALMOST like the real thing? But usually really cheap sounding ;D Good job with the edits though!

Thats cool man. Yeah just checked youtube for that 'big time' tune and yeah i agree it sounds very similar actually. Good observation. Well at least Superman IV has a music video now.

I actually like when 80's pop songs similar to each other. I listen to a lot of r&b from the late 80's-early 90's. A lot of which was made by the same producers, and I can say for sure that A LOT of songs end up sounding the same lol.
Also, I now listen to a lot of music by indie artists that make 80's inspired synth/electro type stuff. It all sounds like it came right out of the 80's, and if you're an 80's music nerd like me (or you have an ear for this sort of thing), you can spot the songs some of their songs are inspired from.
thanks for making the video. The soundtrack to Superman 4 really is rad isn't it?

Yeah, I love the 80's too. I guess I just draw the line sometimes. It's not so much the elements, it's when it's so obvious. I'm one of those people who roll my eyes every time I hear the story about Huey Lewis suing over the Ghostbusters song! AND WINNING! It's like "Hey fucker, it's the 80's synth bass sound, how you gonna sue over that shit?"
But in the end, now that I think about it, I guess this song would have been PERFECT for Superman Iv. Both the song and the film have the same idea. It's a cheaper version of a good project, somebody else already did MUCH better ;D

You sound a lot like myself lol. In fact, the only time I'd say it was done better IMO was when James Horner copied off John Williams' music cue of the big explosion at the end of Star Wars for the big explosion at the end of Aliens.
Come to think of it, if you look on youtube, a lot of people point out how Horner tends to re-use the same music cues. Even as a kid I noticed the similarities of the music cues in "An American Tale", "Batteries Not Included", and "The Land Before Time".

Horner has ONE villain theme, or should I say cue? He uses it in EVERY. FUCKING. MOVIE he scores. I don't know how he gets away with it. I'm pretty sure WB owns the cue, because I think it was first used on the film Brainstorm.

Ah well, I guess that is how he gets away with it! He never came up with it to begin with! Wow.

Just watched your video, Olly. Cooooool. Very entertaining. Song fits some of the more serious ideas in the movie too so I can see why it was considered. Want to see that Metro club scene now even more.
