I recently saw Remains of the Day. It was great to see Christopher Reeve again.
I was impressed by how good he looked, especially in the dinner scene:
In Superman 4, he was looking a little old and tired and pretty gaunt. But in Remains of the Day, he seemed to look a lot more like he did in the earlier Superman movies.

I dunno, I thought he still looked like Superman to me.... but, he definitely looked like time was kinder to him than his co-stars in SIV... *sigh*

That's probably my favorite Reeve performance outside of Superman. It's not a huge role, but he's the main focus of most of the scenes he's in. It's great to see him get the chance to deliver good material with the same conviction he demonstrated, delivering much weaker material, in Superman IV.

A great performance by Reeve in this film, and that scene is so well played, making it very uncomfortable for the viewer, bringing out our empathy for Reeve's character and pity for the others' arrogant, naive ways of appeasing Germany and blindly believing in a friendship until war was right upon them.
Reeve is almost the view of the audience in this film as he is much more objective and almost knows what we know about history.
His character and speeches are also reminiscent of his Superman IV speeches, but with much better writing!
