Probly the latter, I fall asleep through loads which doesn't mean Im bored of them them.
The part that always sends me to sleep is Superman's journey with Jor-El during the FOS scene. The music and imagery is beautiful but it always puts me under haha

Even though it will be longer, I think the RIC cut of the film will rejuvenate interest back into it. I've found some of my most favorite films to be a bit boring at times and watching different cuts of the film help to make them interesting again.

Well....how much shelf-life should a favorite movie have, anyhow? I figure everyone here has watched it more than ten-twenty times? In its day, it was the ONLY well done superhero film.... but that's been changing for awhile now...

It's the Lex and Otis crap that kills STM.

It's getting to be impossible to tell whether ATP is truly incensed and pissed about something or if he's just busting our balls and hamming up his persona. I've stopped trying.

ATP has become a parody of himself!!
I agree though, its getting harder and harder to tell when hes busting chops and when he's being genuine

I don't mind. Since he doesn't seem to take anything too seriously, his posts make me take a step back now and then and have a sense of humor about it.

Which is why I only watch it once a year. Always fresh to me. Can't for Christmas so I can watch it again.

I watch STM once or twice a year but usually show it to kids groups and therefore fast forward through bits that wouldn't interest them, especially since I only have about 75 mins to show them a 143 minute film. Still, they love it!

I've gone through this, and I am going through this again. I get very obsessed with STM, since it always is a very uplifting and feel good movie. It's hard for me to keep it fresh and feel the same feelings over and over, but I get addicted since it is my favourite superhero movie, just the same I do with other movies like Indiana Jones and Batman 1989. I have to be really disciplined with myself and try to watch it once or twice a year. This year I've watched it 3 times, which isn't good, as next time I won't enjoy it as much. Looks like it will have to be a long gap of a year or two for me to enjoy it properly again. It's irritating, but it has to be done. Superman II is the worst. Watching so many fan edits, doing my own edits, and watching the same pieces of footage over and over and over, I don't think I can ever see it as a full movie the same way again. I think the most I enjoyed STM was when the 1-4 collection box set came out (not the deluxe one) in 2005. Since then I've probably watch each move around over 10-15 times. It'd be interesting to hear how many times everyone else has watched the movies since owning the DVDs.

Just a hunch....
If SR 2 had come out & REALLY satisfied those who loved/hated/were indifferent to SR.... with its 'semi-sequel' status, I have this odd feeling that maybe it'd make STM more rewatchable as it'd be more relevant as a 'first chapter' of something still ongoing.
Now, with the Donnerverse officially closed (thanks a lot, WB! ;( ), I can see it feeling more and more something that's in the past, particularly with excitement over new superhero films on the horizon.... imo...

Also, we're all growing up.
I certainly don't have the time to watch the same fucking thing over and over again within a year. I'm not ten anymore. I can't waste my time like that. I gather most here cannot do that, either.
I watch STM once a year, basically, that's it. I haven't got time for anything else, really. There's too much to do, too many other movies to see than one I've seen over three hundred times.

I haven't seen STM in about 5 years, the last time being at the Ziegfeld, a single screen movie theater in New York City with a giant screen. In fact, since 2001, I've only seen it in theaters since it plays often enough. Unfortunately, it means that I'm relegated to only watching the "special edition", but it's a fair trade-off for seeing it in the best presentation possible. So, I'm long overdue for a viewing, but I am holding out for a decent theatrical showing.
I also do the same for Raiders, Jaws and Back To The Future... all of which play in a theater about once a year, so there's no need to watch them at home.

I'm in the same ballpark. I'll watch it once a year, and I'll do all six movies and the special features. Then I'm sick of it.
Then I move on to the Die Hard collection or Indiana Jones or a TV shot.
I've blurred through the first six seasons of Smallville (see what I did there, ha!), but I'm taking a break for a few weeks and watching other stuff. Right now, I'm starting a new Netflix account every month so I can watch other shows for free. Right now, I'm tearing through Kolchak: The Night Stalker and MacGyver.

I've probably seen it 300 times in total, throughout my life.
Since owning the DVD in 2001, I've seen it about 100 times.
Still haven't got Blu-Ray, so that will be the next thing to look forward to!
