Anyone have an MP3 version of the varese soundtrack available, that you might be willing to share? I haven't ever given this a listen, and right now it's going for $40 on amazon, and $50 on ebay.
Also, if you know of any torrent for this let me know. I have been looking and can't find it anywhere

Actually, what IS considered the best version of the STM soundtrack these days? The only one I have is the Rhino version, which is great.

I love the Varese score because of the high quality, particularly during the Flying sequence. I know a few notes were off in places but I love a new scoring instead of listening to the same official version over and over.
I uploaded it to MegaUpload for ATP around Christmas, but of course that site's gone down. I can't get to my old work's servers anymore either.
I haven't listened to the Rhino since the huge boxset came out in 2008.

I would have thought that the big boxset of 8 Cd's made everything that came before it obsolete.

The Varese version, is a re-recording of the score done in 1998. The FSM box set is quite exhaustive for STM, but does not include the re-recording done in 98. Apparently there are little differences in the Varese recording as they worked from John Williams notes for certain cues before those cues were actually found (which helped lead to the 2000 Rhino release).

The Varese is an interpretation of the STM score, not an exact replication of it. I LOVE it. Been ages since I've heard it.

[jedi mind trick]
There is no Varese soundtrack. There is only the Zimmer MOS theme. Move on.

Good deal. Better to get the original uncompressed CD quality over an MP3 anyway for music this good. When you get it, let us know your thoughts.

I still remember the disappointment when I heard "To the Lair" -- the tempo was way too slow. ;D
