I can't remember if that was a set or if it's an actual location.
I was google searching Don's Diner for fun and tried searching for it, but no luck.

lol, my first thought when I saw this thread title was "what is this doing in the Superman section".
I don't know if it was a real location or not. If it was, it would be pretty cool stop by and grab some lunch.

Interesting--- Never thought to check, suprised nothing showed up. I knew that all the locations (just about) were built on the stage- (everything looks pretty nice), but never knew if it was based on something that really existed before.
Would be fun to have gotten the prop menus from that place, given the level of detail in STM....

I thought this topic had been discussed way back when.
Does Gandy know?

I'm wondering about the existence of the diner in SII.

I thought it was a set at the studios and not a real world place.
However there is a diner called Starvin Marvin's on the A40 Western Avenue, Greenford, UB6 8TF in the UK but that was built / imported in 1997.

I found this on Google. It's in Woodland, CA and seem to have a couple in different states of the U.S. Nothing like the one in Superman II. I found this one in Massachusetts who looks like the one in Superman II from the inside The exterior: This one screams the exterior of Don's diner in Superman II but with a different name. It might be a real place that changed name for the duration of the shooting.!

too bad.
i'm actually surprised the KENT farm actually is still there.
i'd love to see it- to touch the walls and look through the windows....
i've actually googled the location to see how much of a drive it would be! ;D
it is like a mecca for donnerverse fans!

Someone on youtube did some sort of vacation traveling to the existing STM locations- don't remember if it was the SOLE reason for him going to the Daily Planet/Daily News, but some of the locations he posted were pretty cool to see.... pity that it'd cost a small fortune to take a vacation to ALL the STM/SII locations....

We are taking a trip to Manhatten in October. We will be stopping by the daily news to get some pictures for sure. Should be pretty cool. It's nice that it's pretty close to the other places we plan to visit. We don't really have to go way out of our way to check it out.
We will be stopping by the ghostbusters firehouse to get some pictures as well.
What's nice is both of those stops will be very brief. 20 mins at the the daily news tops. And I can't see spending more than 5 at the ghostbusters firehouse as it's still a working firehouse and you can't go in.

I was at the Daily News last month. The interior (globe / clocks on wall behind it) is still identical, and the revolving doors are still there. Unfortunately, construction was taking place on the front of the building. As a result, it wasn't worth taking pictures of the front due to all of the scaffolding.

Just ask nicely.

A bit off-topic, but...
If a 'Don's Diner' appears in MOS at any point, would LOVE that.

As long as they're not TOO blatant (As much as I love SR, even I'll admit that there were a few nods too much to the Reeve films) or too much, I'll definitely be enjoying them. Fake locations like "Honeymoon Haven" or a fruit cart stand in front of the DP would also be fun in MOS.... a box of Cheerios front and center, not so much...
