That's subjective ATP. Having branched out and read some other forums recently you'd be surprised at how many people didn't like the Superman presented in the Donner films. in saying that I would say that Reeve is still considered to be the greatest comic book lead there's been.
But what I'll always remember Bale bringing to the table in terms of Batman (not wayne which was fantastic) is the most ridiculous voice ever, one that made it uncomfortable for me to watch any scene where Batman has dialogue.

I totally agree w/you there, Kristopher..I can understand why Nolan/Bale wanted to have a different voice for Batman (so that presumably noone would know who he was), but I think they went WAYYY overboard in trying to be 'realistic' with that choice.
I would have preferred that they be 'unrealistic' and just keep Bale's normal voice. The sore throat Batman voice I can sort of get used to, but I never liked it, and is particularly laughable during the fight with Bane, imo, when Bane is choking him and he's still talking in that voice.

You figure with all the Bat-Gadgets he has, he'd come up with a voice box changer or someshit to alter his voice instead of sounding like that. It's the one thing in the films that I really don't like.

yes, the voice is too forced. terrible. how nolan could let this happen is beyound me.
the only part i liked the voice was in BB when he shout "swear to me". that was very cool! the voice was different in there. i guess it should be like that all the time.

Bale sounded more natural during his first encounter as the Batman with Rachel. Then, Nolan's sound guy found the bass knob and turned it to 11.

One of my favorite lines from Bale was in BB when he grabs the corrupt cop by the leg with the Bat rope and yells something like, "WHERE IS HE HIDING ALL THOSE DRUGS?!!"

i thought the whole scene was awesome! the visual expression too. nolan was never able to get that again imo. the voice is clear, angry, projecting the sound freely. that is how batman should sound instead of trying to force the voice all the time in order to look cool and misterious.

I love Bale in the role.
Period.

Except for the 'Swear to me!' delivery mentioned (which was great), the rest of the time I swear I'd constantly try to shut off the part of my brain that was begging that someone give the character a cough drop for his throat.
I know the voice is supposed to disguise his real voice, but it's not at all scary or intimidating- but sounds like someone TRYING to sound scary, which makes it (for me) wince-worthy for Batman.
Oh well- most of BB/TDK was otherwise fantastic, so I can overlook it....but, in the reboot, man, I hope the sore-throat Batman is dropped.

The more I watch the Nolan Batflicks, the less the Batvoice bothers me. It makes sense. It's all part of the theatrics.

I felt he overdid it a little in TDK. But yeah...how would all of you creative geniuses actually have him talk?

I felt he overdid it a little in TDK. But yeah...how would all of you creative geniuses actually have him talk? Like I wrote previously, he sounded fine in his first meeting with Rachel. Then they took the distorted voice Crane heard while on his own fear gas and kept it that way.

Lois having reddish hair isn't without precedent, the Byrne era Lois had red hair. Plus maybe Snyder wanted Lois' fiery personality reflected in her hair colour, the belief being that red heads are temperamental and fiery.
As for Laurence Fishburn, it isn't something I thought about, I just accepted it, as Laurence is a great actor and can definitely pull off the gruff but loveable quality Perry has. Maybe the producers thought the same thing.
Russel Crowe as Jor-El I have problems with, he seems too arrogant to me to be Jor-El, but that's my problem and I plan to make the effort to let that go so I can enjoy the movie.
I do think this will be a great film, solid, and get Supes back where he belongs, the first and greatest Superhero of all time.

So you're one of those people who can't separate actor from a role?

I hear you. I know older folks who had issues with seeing Brando as Jorel - because of them growing up seeing Brando in other films... (similarly with Jackie Cooper as Perry White) but, personally, Brando's first big impression with me was as Jorel--- so, I imagine that this film might play best to young kids who have no real associations tied to Crowe, Costner, Fishburne, etc. It does bring up an interesting question, though....Would MOS be better with all unknowns? (Or STM for that matter?) I don't know.... but I'm glad that I haven't seen much with Cavill, so that his Supes can feel fresh. He seems to have a great voice from clips from interviews/trailer, maybe it'll work...

I think the supporting cast is going to be great. Costner does the Midwest thing well. heck, his best movies are his Westerns.
Russell Crowe should bring some weight, heh heh, to the role of Jor-El. I love the guy and have a lot of his movies, but I'm not 100 percent sold on him for this. I'm maybe 65 percent.
Fishburne as Perry sounds fantastic, I don't care if he's black and Perry has always been a white man. Who gives a shit, the guy's a fine actor. I've loved the guy since "Event Horizon" and watch most of his stuff. I even tried to watch his run on CSI, and I don't care for that show. Unfortunately, I just couldn't stick with it. I don't really go for those procedurals, just not my thing. Jackie Cooper was my first version of Perry, and I really liked Michael McKean's two turns as Perry in "Smallville," but Lawrence might end up as my favorite Perry. And for a guy like me, who always wanted to be a reporter, Perry White is my favorite supporting character. That character is a big influence on why I wanted to be a reporter. His idealism, his guts, his blunt attitude. Forget Clark Kent, I wanted to be Perry White.
