Following on from the discussion in the Superman Bluray Collection thread, I'm starting this thread to document the CC I'm doing. I'll be adding the colour corrected versions to the existing blurays so they play as the retail ones do, with the menus and extras, etc. I've currently completed 3, and started 2 and 4. I plan on also doing the theatrical version of STM. I think the extended cut of STM is OK as is, and I would rarely watch it over the theatrical version. I'll be doing select scenes of TDC for use with my fanedit, but I'm not going to bother doing the whole film. Here's a vid with a comparison to the original from Superman III. vimeo.com/54071803I'll post some higher res screens later. Let me know if there are any scenes in particular that folk want to check out.

Lol, "booshray", love that!! Great job as always Boosh. I've noticed that the teal problem is mostly prevalent not just when there's scenes with blue things predominantly in the shot, but more specifically whenever there's a Superman shot that's using wires or projection. The shots of him not flying don't seem to have a problem with the color of his suit. Now, if my BTS memory serves me right, there were multiple costumes used depending on which shot was being filmed, and the colors were altered accordingly for the use of blue screen.
Who'd have thought that 35 years later this would still be a problem? lol.
Oh, and since you're re-colorizing all 4 films, does that mean you'll make them available for download as well? I'd rather just download your better versions than pay so much money for the dvds. Or at the very least, let me know the way you edited the color and I'll buy my own and do it myself exactly the way you did, lol.

Looks amazing, great work as always! Cheers dude. Lol, "booshray", love that!! Great job as always Boosh. Now, if my BTS memory serves me right, there were multiple costumes used depending on which shot was being filmed, and the colors were altered accordingly for the use of blue screen. I dunno, there's scenes where Superman is just stood around and his suit looks pretty green. The stuff with Supes in Smallville for Ricky's birthday for example. Based on the sizes of the files involved, I don't think it would be worth trying to put them online. Each bluray is dual layer, so they're getting on for 50gig a piece. Putting up just the videos, and giving instructions on how to add that to your own copy of the bluray is a possibility. That would be reliant on people having a computer with a bluray drive/ burner though, and the hard drive space to do it. To let you know what I did to replicate the colouring yourself isn't really possible. It's not as simple as a adding an effect and inputting the right numbers. Scenes are individually tweaked, and in some cases certain elements masked out, so only certain parts of the image are affected. It's a lot of fannying around, as well as requiring a lot of software/ hardware. The bluray needs to be ripped, converted to lossless avi (Superman III is over 250gig), colour corrected, exported to avi, transcoded to m2ts. All in all it's long winded process. I'd be open to doing an old school PIF to anyone who owns the retail blurays and really wants a copy, but I think that's better discussed via PM, and also when I get through with the colouring itself.

Ugh, I hear ya boosh. On the one hand it sucks that it isn't as simple as getting the numbers to where you want, but at the same time I love knowing that you put this much detail into what you do. Just further proof that your fan edit of S2 will be the best one ever.
Someday I'll get a new computer that will have all those capabilities. S2 I'm not concerned with (you'll have your edit done before I ever do buy this new computer with the way I get things done lately, lol), and from what I've seen STM isn't too bad with color problems. As for S3 and S4, I'll probably extract only the scenes I plan to use and won't need to worry about re-colorizing the entire films.

250 Gigs? Yikes. That's got to be one heck of a computer. Salute you for your thoroughness on your work, Booshman! But.... when you going back to SII?

Since I'm not in England now, I've been doing my editing on my laptop. Its got a decent processor, but only 6gig of ram, so rendering can take an age when dealing with 1080p sources. I'm jumping in and out of editing Supes II, when I feel motivated to do it. I've just finished doing a video for the fanedit.org yearly awards. Now that that's out of the way I'll be able to concentrate more on Superman II.
