So I read somewhere that Henry Cavill and Zach Snyder are coming to Sydney for the premiere of MOS on June 24th (which explains why it is opening here 2 weeks after everywhere else) I wonder of Margot has been invited.

A friend of mine went to the SR premiere in Hollywood & apparently all of the actors who played Superman were invited.... but I don't think the other actors who played supporting roles were...

Honestly she may not be on their radar, so I wouldn't expect it or think it necessary. Might be nice though if she is available and whoever is doing the inviting is aware she is in Sydney at the same time.

Even if Margot was invited to the MOS premiere, she probably wouldn't be able to attend as she'll be at the Astor Theatre, Melbourne screening of STM on the 25th.

Went to the Sydney screening last night. Was an absolute blast! The turnout was great, far more than I thought there would be. Met Margot and got her to sign my STM DVD, which already bears the signatures of Donner and Manky. I had Margot sign the DVD with "Can you read my mind?" Yeah, I know, cheesy. Also got a photo with her, too. Was a great experience meeting her. She was a lovely lass. The Q&A, which took place before the screening, went well. Everyone cheered and clapped when Margot came on stage. She still has her good sense of humor as she made everyone laugh a number of times throughout the Q&A. When the Q&A finished she was given a standing ovation as she departed the stage. And then the screening of the film... Well, my god, what a great experience it was! Everyone was into the film, cheering and applauding when Donner, Reeve, Kidder and Williams' names appeared during the opening credits. They also cheered and applauded several other times: Superman and Clark's first appearances, the shirt rip and subsequent helicopter rescue, and the fly by at the end of the film. The audience also laughed a number of times as well, with "There's only one 'p' in rapist", and "No, thanks. I never drink when I fly" getting the biggest laughs. All in all, it was a great night and easily the best cinematic experience I've ever had. It's a night I won't ever forget.

I'm so jealous Shane and SGB.
I really wanted to go but living on the other side of the country money got in the way.
Wish events like this could come to Perth for a change.
What was the print like?

It was a digital print and was sourced from the same digital master that was used for the Anthology Theatrical Cut blu-ray.

That's awesome- Great that the charm from the movie didn't get dated. A greatly enthusiastic audience laughing and cheering was half of the STM experience (for my part)--- great that you guys were able to experience the same!

Is anyone on the forums going to the Melbourne screening? I was going, but Margot was unfortunately rushed to hospital with pneumonia so it has been cancelled. She is still in Sydney. I hope she pulls through ok.

Old age, dimensia and pneumonia do not go together well. This could be bad.
We're getting to the time in our lives where we start losing actors we all grew up with and adored. It's gonna be rough.

Getting to? Christ, that started years ago! I'm just grateful all the James Bonds are still with us!

All in all, it was a great night and easily the best cinematic experience I've ever had. It's a night I won't ever forget. Very well said. I also attended, took my eldest son (14) and my Mum (70) and we had a blast. Margot was in great form, the Q&A was facilitated by a local film critic called Gary Maddox who works for the Sydney Morning Herald. The audience was given an opportunity to ask her questions towards the end of the interview and nobody was denied, everyone who queued up to ask a question was allowed - great stuff. It was a good hour of dialogue before the main event, man oh man what a buzz. The theatre (Orpheum picture palace) is a grand old cinema that maintains its 1930's art deco charm. When the lights were dimmed and the film began, the real theatre curtains moved at the same pace as those on screen revealing the comic book. Then those famous credits whooshed straight threw us all in glorious sound and the cheers followed. A real highlight for everyone there, we've been talking about it all week. When we left my Mum said, despite how good this new movie might be (MOS) you wont leave the theatre feeling as good as you do now....so true. She wanted to wait until the very end of the credits to see the words "Superman II next year" reminiscing of how the audience cheered 35 years ago when those words ended the film.

I plan on going back in September for the screening of the first three Indy flicks, and again in December for the screening of Die Hard.

I got to see Margot Kidder at Supernova Perth today. She was wonderful and actually got a very good turn out, especially as seeing most people came for Carrie Fisher and the Weasley twins.
