Routh does look a little on the thin side in SR: but, in looking at the bts documentary- he's anything but. I thought there were a couple of things that could have been tweaked in SR to fit more in line with Reeve's look- personally, I would have prefered a better arrangement of the costume to enhance the neck and a bigger 'S'/and missed the 's' on the back- but ultimately, I loved the movie overall & the performance- so, the small things didn't affect me as much. If I hated the film, of course, I probably would have hated the actor, too. And his damn neck.

Its a shame Routh probably won't get another shot.
Maybe Rouths suit should have been made of a different material. I read the material he wore can actually compress muscle so you lose a bit of size and definition in it. If thats true it was just a stupid choice.

But then again.... WB pulled the plug on the Burton version a week after shooting; Actors changed at the last minute on 'Back to the Future', 'Lord of the Rings', 'Batman', etc. Unlikely (since we don't know WHO is opposed to him in it.... Nolan? WB? Snyder? Or a combination of the above?) - but right now I'm just thinking that if they AREN'T giving Routh another chance- then- that new candidate better be AWESOME. Or else. Btw- has the forum decided how much this new film needs to gross to WB to not be a disappointment? $401 Million? $500 million? A billion?

Oh, and John Lennon too. He'd be 70. I wish Hollywood had better news for Brandon today.

^^he won't return, mate. At least Our Superman won't. It sucks big time but it's the the crude reality. Who do you guys blame for this mostly? I blame Singer, then WB. I feel like Singer just didn't fight enough for it. He really is fickle and arrogant. And WB are stupid.

So you find him fickle and arrogant based on your assumptions?
Nobody knows what goes on behind close doors. Maybe the guy just got burned out. Didn't he have a breakdown during the shoot?

I have mixed feelings on blaming Singer. If you were a director that brought in $400 mil wordwide with an unknown for Superman & were told that what you did was a disappointment..... how much would you fight to do the sequel if you got criticism from different sides about the kind of job you'd done?
On the flip side: personally, if you didn't have to worry about money, then definitely, I wish that Singer cancelled everything else and just fought like a tiger for MOS.......but it's possible that Singer may have had learned a few too many lessons from DOnner- who knows that if you don't own the property, being fired as director can happen at any minute. (Look at the current "Jack the Giant Killer" which was supposed to happen & didn't/ or "The Hobbit"/ or half a dozen other expensive projects that are in limbo at the last minute..... hard to blame a director for not putting ALL his chips on one number.)
Aside: I think Singer was (for the most part) the IDEAL director for Superman for this age- (A great director who also respects and embraces the Donner choices, for the most part) but....for my own enjoyment- I thought he should have been challenged by the studio on two marks:
#1: either make it a complete sequel, not halfway- (unless, of course, he was being pushed NOT to make it a sequel at all & the hybrid was a compromise w/the studio. In which case, it'd be the studio's fault.)
#2: more superheroic action that was different than we'd seen before. Michael Dougherty wanted a supervillain integrated in this one, and I think he's completely correct that it would have boosted the film in different ways. (Although of course with bad juggling, you'd have Spiderman 3)
I ultimately blame the studio for not seeing the creative and business potential available with using the same team for a cheaper & better sequel right away......but I still am hesitant to accuse Singer, because the guy has that rare talent- he's able to make a spectacular superhero film that respects its sources.
Nolan can, too..... but he's not directing the new one. And Snyder has great intentions, but missed the point on Watchmen, which (dramatically) should have been a slam-dunk in the drama department.... but only looked great with the substance lobotomized from the material.
Anyhow...... one day..... hopefully we'll get the real story....

Yes it's an assumption I've come up with based on some evidence (the way he acted towards the XMen sequel, the arrogant way he sometimes comes off in articles, interviews, imo). Of course I can't pretend to think I have all the evidence in the world since I wasn't there, but this is my conclusion so far.
I think he's a very good filmmaker and I really love SR and wanted to see his sequel to it, but the guy aint perfect or the most likeable guy either.

Haha. I guess Kate Beckinsale is "playing" Lois? You see the date on the cameras, 12/21/2012? Cute reference.

^Not sure about the date reference, Is it for when STM premiere? Saw this manip of Brandon at SHH, No doubt he'd look SO much better in the suit (slightly altered) now that he's older and bigger. I honestly doubt they'll find someone better suited for this role in this generation. Sigh.

^Not sure about the date reference, Is it for when STM premiere? The date is in the video. At around 00:45, the date is on the video feed from the camera underground. 12/21/2012 is the final day of the Mayan calendar....."doomsday".
