The 'new' reality that sets in now seems to be that - with the (financial, though not creative imo) success of the new Spiderman series changing up actors in under ten years- that seems now probably what will happen when/if they want to move on from Cavill.
That being the case- what do you guys think of (assuming that they do enough great other sequels) the last one being an adaptation of "Crisis on Infinite Earths", with multiple Supermen involved?
Before, I'd think it impossible- but with Bryan SInger right now filming "X-men: Days of Future Past" with giant buzz and mixing up casts from two different eras/timelines....
What do you guys think of the final Superman movie (before a reboot) being similar: with different actors (assuming they're alive/don't look too aged/can fit well in the costume) -
Brandon Routh, Dean Cain, Gerard Christopher, Tom Welling? You could have them be from older timelines (just as Earth-1 and Earth-2 had younger and older Supermen) - to accomodate some aging- and 'justify' the variations of Superman 'canon' that were in their respective shows?
Again..... I'd think it out of the question before reading about Singer doing "Days of Future Past" with that gigantic cast. Now? Things seem more possible.
And..... at the end of the film- when multiple timelines become squished into one new one- that could introduce the new actor who would be part of the reboot for the next film.
Boxoffice wise, it could bring in SR fans, L&C fans, Superboy the tv series fans, and Smallville fans - and have a scene or two updating what could have happened in their prospective universes since they were last seen on-screen...
Again- this would be AFTER a string of Cavill sequels had been done.
Thoughts?

An All-Star Superman-inspired (or adapted) plotline would be a great swan song for a Superman movie series.

My only concern is having Superman swan songs too soon! I want TEN movies if MOS turns out to be a good movie! I admit I'm curious with Nolan/Goyer/Snyder in charge, if they actually have a rough outline for what's next.... The Trek movies (for the most part) didn't seem to have any real plan, except going movie to movie. But- I'm curious if the 'trilogy' is becoming an unofficial business model for the superhero films (outside of Marvel). I know there was a thread here before, with a lot of great scenarios that members put here outlining 5-6 or so Superman leading films that they would like to see- but generally I think WB (but this is just a guess) probably feels after the Val Kilmer/George Clooney Batman movies that having the same actor in the role is best for audiences to accept- or else reboot. Unless..... WB starts to really get their act more together and becomes the next Marvel Studios, by having things actually rushed into production but still put out a good product! Otherwise- I guess we should all get ready for a retelling of the origin again in another ten years?

I can't see them tackling the Multiverse... at least in Nolan's "realistic" take on the DCU.
I think that team is having a hard enough time having a flying alien exist in that world, let alone multiple time traveling versions of him.

This might be a more realistic take on superman but this world and the realistic world that Nolan created for batman are not the same. If done right I think the multiverse could work, and that's a really interesting idea to see come onto the big screen.
There would have to be a lot of solo movies and team movies to tie this all in to make a Crisis movie. So sadly I don't think WB would even attempt to do this.

I've fantasized about a multiverse movie with alumni coming back - but I doubt we'll ever see that. Maybe if there's a new wb series they could have time for that.
Personally, my advixe would be to do either "kingdom come/the kingdom" or "superman:legion" and introduce the new superman as part of the plot. Cavill could pass the torch.

While I admit that I have never been someone who knows a whole heck of a lot about the comics (I've always been more of a Superman movie and TV fan), I do know the villains from Superman lore. I know that Doomsday is the villain who kills Superman in the "crisis" storyline, and then Superman is then reborn thus rebooting the storyline and he isn't as powerful and a godlike, etc.
I have been thinking over the past couple of days that either MOS2 or MOS3 will feature Doomsday as the main villain. They could do the crisis storyline. However, doing that in the 3rd MOS movie, may not be the way they decide to do it. They wouldn't want to end the trilogy on a downer with Superman dying like that. I mean I suppose they could and it could be powerful if done right. They could also do it in the second film, have doomsday kill him and then he is reborn and makes his big comeback in the third movie.
While I am not sure which villain will be in which movie, I bet that the other two villains in the 2 MOS sequels are Brainiac and Doomsday. Of course Lex will be featured in there too, but I think Nolan, Goyer, and Snyder know that Lex being human doesn't pose enough of a physical threat to Supes unless he comes up with a clever way to plant Kryptonite on him, which has already been done in several of the movies already. I think he will be in the next two movies helping out Brainiac and/or Doomsday, but that is the extent of it.

Incorrect. Like, completely incorrect. Stick to Star Wars. I am actually a movie guy period whether its Star Wars or Superman. My knowledge about Star Wars expanded universe stuff is about the same as my knowledge of the Superman comics. Which is not much other than hearing things from other people about various story aspects, which I may or may not confuse myself on from time to time. Anyhow I do know that Doomsday does kill Superman in the comics. That much I do know. Ha!

You guys are adorable with your high hopes and grandiose dreams.
Three movies, tops, over the next 10 years. Maybe the last one is a team-up.

Yeah a Crisis/multiverse movie will never happen. WB just isn't going to think that big and if MOS does well they are going to stick with a semi realistic take. They aren't going to f*** with the golden goose. They don't have the creativity and rarely ever have.
I mean...they've had 20 years to do a shared on screen/live action universe and they are just now getting around to it. Meanwhile it was a much harder task for Marvel for decades and they STILL beat WB to the punch. They didn't even have the film rights to Cap, Fury, etc. over ten years ago WB just doesn't have the ambition to do something like Crisis. They only just now have it for a DCCU because Marvel made major bank with Avengers.
But if WB DID do a Crisis/Multiverse movie it could potentially put the MCU to shame. The MCU has about 5 years worth of material on screen. A DC Cinematic Multiverse could potentially have 65 years worth of material to mine.
With the technology now (or better yet in ten years)? We could see some pretty cool shit if a few actors and estates signed off on it. Reeve and Cavill fighting the Anti Monitor side by side? Yeah it could be seen as morbid or tasteless to do stuff like that but if it made money WB wouldn't care.
But going back to reality...it'll be a miracle if we see a good Justice League movie in the next decade
