Are any of the new Superman books worth a download? I'm still only reading Smallville. Superman was a bit of a letdown, as was the post-Morrison run of Action. I was thinking of one of the team-up books. I really enjoyed the Loebs run on Superman/Batman 10 years ago. Great story arcs for the fall of President Lex and the arrival of the real Kara Zor-El. I've still got all of those bagged and boarded, and I revisit them every few years. But that's the old continuity. Any recommendations are appreciated. Oh, I'm still loving the new runs on The Shadow and Ghostbusters. And if you love horror anthology, check out Bela Lugosi's Tales from the Grave. It's got that great old-school vibe like Tales from the Crypt or Creepshow. It's not on Comixology, but it's on Comics Plus.

I've been thinking about getting into The Shadow!
That Superman Unchained looks pretty good.

If you end up digging The Shadow, check out Masks. It's the JLA/Avengers team-up of pulp-era heroes. Shadow, Spider, Green Hornet, Zorro ...

I got Superman Unchained #1. Good writing from Snyder...sort of setting stuff up...but Lee's art is just OK.

I like Lee's older stuff. His new stuff is so overdone. It takes like five minutes to take in each panel. And I just don't like how he draws Superman. His Batman, while also.overdone and overfilled, was fantastic.

All of Lee's faces look the same. I guess that can be said of a lot of artists. I don't particularly care for Quietly or Perez. I love Franks, as long as it works with the story, same for McGuiness, too cartoony if the story tone doesn't match. I grew up on Byrne and Guice in the 80s and 90s. I liked Turner's run on Loebs's Kara storyline in Superman/Batman and the Godfall ark in the regular titles.

All of Lee's faces look the same. Jim Lee said in that Entertainment Weekly Superman Issue from a few weeks back.. that all the characters he draws, male/female are based off of his face, because it's easier to draw when your up at 2 AM finishing up your comics. That's why they look the same.
