I think either one would be a good Luthor.
Strong might have more of the look, but Cranston has the acting chops and reputation to bring some much needed gravitas and respect to the DC universe.
Cranston would be the single best casting decision for DC in anything outside the Nolan Bat films.

I'd love to see Cranston as Jim Gordon but for this Luthor poll I'd say Cranston. Both guys would be great but I think Cranston would be better. Strong's had a lot of villainous roles before. He's a bit typecast. He was the best thing in Green Lantern by far. A shame he didn't get to expand on it. Cranston is awesome as Walter White but playing Luthor would give him a chance to play a different level of villainy. I'm just pretending Total ReBoot didn't happen.  |

Cranston as Gordon is perfect casting!
As great as it is, I'd like to see him in more of a starring role. I didn't see Total Recall, but I'm tired of him in small little roles like in Drive and Argo.
He's too good an actor for that.

Scoring Cranston as Luthor would be a major, major win for DC/WB.

It was the execution.
They had him playin the old school, cheesy Luthor, which is unfortunate because I think he could've pulled off the Gordon Gekko CEO version.
I couldn't take Parker Posey either.

I'll take Parker Posey. Gladly.  Her character was kind of annoying but maybe she was supposed to be. She never would have been cast but I still think she would have been a better Lois than Bosworth. She was the right age for the films ideas and has more of the Lois personality. The age gap probably helped put her out of the running. Bigger than the one between Cavill and Adams. Mark strong is almost too obvious. Like kevin spacey obvious.
But its NOT a bad choice.
If I had to bet, id say its his to lose.
But cranston? I've already done said that cranston as luthor could elevate things...

Hmm...I'll just say you'd expect better. From he and Bill Nighy. I thought Beckinsale was the only entertaining character in the whole movie and that's just because she got more to do since her character was a combo of Stones and Ironsides from the original.

Cranston has a crazy range. He can be likable and goofy, he can be chilling. I think a guy like that would be a great choice for Luthor; Luthor the CEO needs to be likable. He needs to be charismatic. Nowadays, with CEOs (especially tech CEOs) being out in front of their companies doing keynotes and interviews all the damn time, I think a Gordon Gekko type would lack credibility. We like our capitalist pigs to pay us the courtesy of hiding their capitalist pigness behind a smile and a snappy speech, thank you very much.
Plus, Mark Strong has already played, what...2 comic book villains? Spread the wealth.
