I'm not trying to be a smartass, I really want to know.
I don't understand people who bitch about polls. This is a fucking message board where opinions are dished out 24/7. Sometimes the back and forth is so intense that it's hard to figure out exactly how many people liked or disliked a certain film or idea, so I enjoy posting polls to see how the actual numbers look for like/dislike, etc.
So how do you guys feel about polls?

Some people just get upset when a poll shows that something they like isn't liked by everyone, and then they start crying about how the polls are "useless" or "unnecessary". |

The whole thing with the forum I presume is sharing opinions, discussion, and debate (though when it devolves into personal jabs, unnecessary power plays, and insults, it's far less interesting).... polls are just a way of finding out how people who are more silent on the forum feel as well, I would think.
Also, I find it fun to click on and it's also nice to have a 'fast view' of the general feeling of the whole forum on certain topics. Saves time.

Well.... I get ya, but a few extra thoughts from this side: #1: If any poll/thread felt too redundant/ not interesting enough, I'd assume any thread/poll will die soon enough by itself* and fade to the back pages through lack of interest anyways. #2: Having said that- maybe moderators would/should (?) jump in whenever they felt something was too repetitive?  Dunno. I agree maybe there should be a line where it's too much at one time, but I'd be hard pressed to know where that line should be drawn.... #3: * I know myself I've been the author of a number of polls/threads that I thought would be different/ interesting, that have died due to lack of interest myself.....but wasn't for lack of hoping it would be interesting for some segment of the forum--- in other words, I wasn't intentionally trying to clog up the works, but.... |

If people don't like the polls ignore them. Of all the shit to get bent out if shape over. I got no problem with em if they have something interesting to ask.

there are a plenitude of times when the usual suspects will ignore a specific thread to create a duplicate thread on the EXACT same thing - JUST to be "cute".
