Throughout my childhood and teen years, most of my friends were fans of the Reeve movies. But now, as I turn 40, I seem to be the only one who still gives a fuck.
Most of my friends became boring retards once they got married and had children.
Back in 2006, I tried showing one of them the Donner Cut, figuring he'd be ecstatic to see new Brando scenes etc. But the fucking cunt kept on checking his cellphone and texting and it was clear he wasn't interested. I turned it off after 20 minutes.
Same with SR. Nobody that I grew up with bothered seeing it.
And none of my old friends give a fuck about MoS either. They though I was weird for being excited about it and counting the days until it was released!
So how about you? Do your friends still have their priorities right, or have they also become boring domesticated retards in adulthood?

People forget how massive the Salkind Reeve series was back in the day.
Different world today. So many comic book flicks out there. STM was such a landmark film.
Nothing to do with domestication
Nobody gives much of a fuck for SR and MoS cos they both missed the mark.

I'm 28. All my friends have always thought Superman was rubbish. They only fondly remember Lois and Clark as it was on before Live and Kicking on a Saturday when we were kids.
MOS is the only one I've seen multiple opinions about and some anticipation. It's still not been well received. Everyone's talking about Affleck though. Batman is just more popular.
I'm cooler for being a Doctor Who fan.

Back in the day.... I was hard pressed to find any friends who were into comics, at all- let alone be really into STM. (Pre-internet, and this is at a time where the idea of a store devoted to comics was TRULY odd and special- there was one downtown, and that was it.)
Later on, when comic shops started to sprout up around town- it was easier to run across and connect with others into the same hobby, but even among comics fans here, there was a limit for their affection for the Donner film.
So..... initially it was fascinating to find on the internet decades later people who saw STM more than once, and really were entranced by its novelty and charm- particularly through Superman Cinema, which led to the forum.
I brought friends over, who were also bored/snoozed halfway through the Donner Cut, even if they weren't dying to see it like I was. I was so mad at what Thau did on that first view with friends, that their reaction didn't bother me as I was already fuming at how Thau cut this together. *
(*Even though later I'd find out part of the blame went to Donner, too).

I do remember, I'm glad that I kept newspaper clippings just for the heck of it, back in the day. Thrilled when I found out that websites have even more archival stuff to remind me. Well...... it also could be that ATP's friends just value more time with their wives and kids than Superman movies twenty years later... (I don't know ATP's friends, but I wouldn't just blame SR and MOS).

I still talk to people who liked/love the Reeve movies.
I can remember being in 3rd grade and people in my class were loving SIII.

None of my friends have ever really been into Superman. My closest geek friend (with whom I share a lot of interests) wasn't all that bothered with the special edition of STM when it was released.
He was talking about taking his son to see MOS but he didn't in the end.

Nah most of them aren't into Superman. When Reeve died one buddy asked a lot of questions about the films. When SR and BB came out they liked them ok but nothin special. Some were interested in the Donner cut but they mostly thought the non Brando stuff in the Lester cut was superior. Only one guy I know even gave a fuck about seeing MOS. the others had no interest. some of em love the DCAU cartoons though. Even the ones not into comics as much as others.
My best group of friends and I a have the same interests but each one of us is most into a particular thing.

Most people I know had kids and their lives started to revolve around their kids. So they don't give two shits about seeing anything other than animated Disney shit because it's what the kids want to see. My one childless friend just hates Superman and openly mocks me to the point it got personal and I quit talking to him for a few weeks. He loves Marvel and Batman. If I didn't talk to you guys about this stuff, I'd either have to talk to myself or just not say anything at all.

I don't get that behavior by your friend- very not cool of him- why should talking about comic characters get personal?
I could sort of understand how talking politics or religion could lead to personal arguments, (which is why I try to avoid discussing either as much as possible) as politics and religious points of view are intertwined with people's sense of survival.... but getting personal about fictional characters wearing colorful underwear? Pretty immature behavior on your friend's part...

Most of my friends don't hate Superman. Just not into it. One guy isn't a huge fan but even he thought it was BS that the costumes have been changed. Even the ones with kids are still pretty big nerds. Trust me if they still have phaser props and their kids hum the Trek TNG theme at age two they know they DARE not make fun of me. I've got too much ammo to use against them.

Pretty immature behavior on your friend's part... To him, the only people who can possible appreciate the character of Superman are children or simple-minded adults. Basically, he fuckin' called me a retard. To him, Superman never matured past some of the older Super Friends cartoons or Reeve saving cats from trees.

I don't have any friends that don't love superman, and remember STM fondly.
I used to have a few friends that thought it was dumb, that superman was lame. But they're buried in the swamp now.

None of my friends was into superman, but I was always a big fan of all of the chris reeve films.i remember recording superman 3 on VHS and sneaking downstairs on many occasions after my parents were asleep and watching it with the sound down so low I could hardly hear it .in the years after those films were done its been fascinating finding out all the history behind the four chris reeve superman films.im also so great full to finding a little website called superman cinema, you know after all the years of hearing of the deleted scenes of supes 4 and the missing marlon Brando footage.when I finally sat down and watched all that stuff good and bad,it was still amazing to be getting this stuff after so many years.now I'm 41 married with a 7 month baby girl priorities have changed somewhat.but when all the build up to man of steel was at full flow I was certainly still chomping at the bit to see a new superman film,it's a shame it was only mediocre.
