What do you think about casting Affleck as Batman?
Personally, I think he will be solid, but hopefully great.
My only concern is that he may be too distracting him being Affleck, but I think he will surprise people.

Same here.
He'll be good but won't "own" the role.
Too bad he's already a laughing stock. People should give him a chance.

He's an uninspired choice, not the choice I would have made, but I think he will be ok. I will give him a chance. I can't imagine him being awful and he may just surprise people. I expect him to be decent but maybe not spectacular as Batman

The Bale Only People will never accept him.

Affleck has been surprising people for the past 5 years or so. I don't think he's stopping anytime soon.
Considering he played George Reeves in a movie and donned the suit, does this make him the only person to play Batman and Superman?

Ah, yes, the Bale Only crowd, which is better than the Keaton Only People.

Films like "Argo" has shown us he can be damn good. But that was strong material. Can Affleck elevate Goyer's hit-and-miss script? Hard to say. Guess I'll have to watch it when it comes out and report back. See ya in two years. Ultimately, Affleck's biggest challenge is his baggage. Despite success as a dramatic actor and director recently, all people want to do it bitch and moan about shit he did 15 to 20 years ago. The guy has grown as an artist, but some refuse to see it because in the age of post-modern snark, everything is deemed failure before a single frame is shot.

Kinda like the opposite of George Lucas.
When he made the prequels, people forgot about THX 1138, American Graffitti and Star Wars.

ROTS, for all it's flaws, ihas Yoda, wookie battles, light saber battles, Jedi vs Sith battles, and Yoda vs Palps.
And... hehehehe...John Williams.
MOS has no John Williams, dragonflies, tornadoes, snapping necks, Vulcans being called Kryptonians, Zod as Sybok AND a bus.

Man of Steel has more fisticuffs ball busting brawling than ten, 12...15 live action superhero movies combined.
it does NOT have midichloreans, jar jar, a blonde toddler yelling "yippppeeeee", a cgi yoda, ham fisted political/topical commentary that makes "avatar" look subtle, hayden chritensonsansucks, a bored terence stamp, a bored-ER natalie portman, an even bored-ER sam jackson, an even bored-ER-ER george lucas as writer, anakin having jack-off dreams about his mom, the word "younglings", a token-lando, a padme-is-amidala-"twist" (SHOCK!!!), gungans with tourettes, farting camels, penis-nosed aliens (which are 1000% more phallic than the sarcophagus of krypton), boba's dad dies like a punk, the arena on geonosis looks like a hundred sand-stone-rock clitoris's, dumbass jedi who facilitate the sith takeover..and...the john williams theme.

loves prequel. kvetches about MoS. theres no mystery here. Yeah. Despite all the problems with the prequels there's more good stuff in them than in man of steel. I could watch Ian McDiarmid as Palpatine all fuckin day long. There's nobody in MOS that good. He seemed to be on screen for all of five minutes but there wasn't a bad guy in MOS as badass as Maul. Liam Neeson outdoes Costner and Crowe as the wise mentor/father figure. Zimmer just doesn't beat Williams. Especially not in this face off. Cavill and Christiansen? I guess they cancel each other out.

What is this? Third grade? I remember having a similar debate at that time.

No it's is discussion board where we...DISCUSS things. Comparing films around here? Nothing new. Didn't realize that was exclusive to the third grade since we've all being doing it for years.
Now MOS may have been made by a guy with the mentality of a third grader but that's another discussion.

Yes it is a discussion board. Thanks for informing me. I don't know what I would do without you guiding me with your great wisdom.
But the discussion you guys are having about Star Wars prequels vs Man of Steel seems third grade-ish. Ninja turtles vs battle toads. Voltron vs transformers. Thundercats vs he-man.

But the discussion you guys are having about Star Wars prequels vs Man of Steel seems third grade-ish. Ninja turtles vs battle toads. Voltron vs transformers. Thundercats vs he-man. We've been doing the exact same thing for over ten years. Yet you choose NOW to chime in with this nugget of wisdom? LOL. How is it so exclusively third gradish to compare films? We aren't comparing them in a fight. That would be childish. We are comparing and contrasting various elements and our opinions on quality (like we have always done) so you're way off. I certainly don't remember discussing film on this level when I was in the third grade. I don't remember stuff like character motivation and roles coming up in conversation.

But you're generalizing the topic a bit. I'm talking about the prequels vs Man of Steel "debate". You're just pointing out superficial things that you find better than the other. "Williams' music smashes over Zimmer!!" "Palpatine and Maul are bbetter than anything in Man of Steel ever!!!" I expect one of you guys to go "nuh-uhh!"
Surely you're not comparing the amazing storylines between the movies or the engrossing romantic plot lines. But what's the point? It's been discussed repeatedly before. So let's just keep the topic at Batfleck, who I think is going to surprise people in a good way.

So let's just keep the topic at Batfleck, who I think is going to surprise people in a good way. That's because the discussion JUST got started before you jumped in pointin the finger playing topic police. Like you couldn't wait to point out what was wrong just when its getting started. Why don't you wait for a proper discussion to get some steam before you condemn it first huh? It might become a proper thread on its own instead if co-opting this one. That's how a lot of threads start. Nothing new. Maybe it'll eventually get deeper but right now t just got started. How can it get really in depth right off the bat? Where did I use the words "Williams smashes zimmer?" You talk about me making generalizations but you seem to be jumping up and down to do it first. My exact wording didn't sound as "childish" as you make it out to be. I said stuff like I thought Neeson was better at the mentor role but I don't see how those words are "third grader ish". I said Zimmer doesn't beat Williams in this face off. How's it childish when Williams body of work speaks for itself. We all know it. How often have Star Wars and MOS been compared here specifically before? How's that been done? It hasn't. That's the point. Maybe it'll become its own thread but it hasn't even gone far enough for you to already say it's such and such.
