So, after many years of not being very into them, I now love comics. I've read most of the Alan Moore stuff I can find and Miracleman has been mentioned many times as this lost work of art and my interest has been piqued.
Well, wouldn't you know, I arrived on the scene at just the right time apparently. Neil Gaiman's going to come back to finish what he started before it was cancelled and Alan Moore's stuff is getting reprinted (albeit without his name on the cover).
What does everyone think of this news? Is it really as good a comic as so many people make out?

As it's a ripoff of Shazam, does that lessen it somewhat? I've never read either so what would be a better place to start?

The original (pre-Alan Moore) was a direct ripoff of the old Shazam, I understand...
But, I only started reading it with Alan Moore's run- you don't miss anything if you start there. For my two cents, DEFINITELY worth reading... it was Moore's companion work to Watchmen at (about) the same time--- and one of Gaiman's few superhero projects, before the lawsuits interrupted his completion of the story.
Glad to hear if it's been resolved. Can't wait!
