Gerard christopher is cool.
I have a funny story about that guy- no time for it now but he's a good guy.
When it comes to superman related folks I've met/hung out with I can tell you this:
John byrne = super cool, sometimes unfairly maligned by dweebs. Just awesome. I have an amazing story about him.
Roger stern= imagine you met a comic book writer and you felt like you were talking to your dad.
Gerard christopher= cool, gentleman, ladies man, a wild and crrrrrrraaaaaazzzzyyyyy guy chasing those foxes!
Mark waid = diva pretentious douche nozzle.

On a related note, a friend of mine went to the Superman Returns premiere and told me how he saw Gerard Christopher and also had a pleasant experience meeting him, but was also shocked at how- apparently- he was still in Superman shape! Wonder if that guy is still active in Hollywood....  |

Almost done viewing all of Season 4...
Was REALLY shocked how good the episodes are--- and how far the quality was just light years ahead with each subsequent season. The first season everyone agrees was just horrible, the second season was a big step up with Gerard Christopher taking over and some of the changes made--- but season 4 is incredible for its time. I didn't expect it to be THIS good.
Given that, it makes me extremely sad to read up that seasons 5 and 6 were being planned by Salkind- but got killed off by Lois and Clark happening.... who knows how much more progress would have been made?
In doing a bit more reading about it: Some bits of trivia I found-
* Stacey Haiduk's hair got fried by repeated hair dye jobs- and had to go to wigs after the first couple of seasons.... and because of her relationship with the first Superboy actor, and how it made things messy, made sure not to get involved with co-stars after that- and it took awhile to get used to Gerard Christopher in the role.
* The tv show was shot on 35mm film---- ALL DESTROYED BY PARAMONT/VIACOM! Gah! The beta and vhs tape masters are apparently what are left. Ouch.
*Gerard Christopher apparently got more involved as a producer by the third season- maybe that's why the quality jumped higher.... in any case- he has some REALLY great moments in S4, and while the show started off pretty much as a low-rent kids' show- I definitely prefer the last couple of seasons easily over most of Smallville--- it feels like the people involved weren't embarrassed by the comic book, whereas Smallville always irritated on a level because it seemed to reflect an attitude that it was better than its source material.
Anyhow--- great stuff, but sad that there's not more. But at least all the seasons are now available on dvd, but.... oh well...

this gives me pause-
my two boys keep raiding boxes int he garage looking for weird/neat old shit their old m an has stowed away. nosey little frikkers are just like me. "whats in this box in the attic? i was always forbidden to go int he attic..is it haunted? lets explore...!"
so yeah i have to get rid of some shit.
anyway- last night i saw on the counter a VHS tape of superboy eps i had gerard christopher sign for me like 13 years ago. back then he was hawking select eps on VHS (either salkinds didnt know or didnt care).
i was like...where did THIS come from? oh. the boys were getting nosy with boxes in the attic.
hoo-kay.

by that i mean, i dont care if they root around and find old comics and antique toys-
i just cant have them finding old playboys.
