Have we done one with all of them?
I guess I should've worded it "favorite Superman film" since favorite and best can result in different choices. But whatever.
My favorite is still II.

It has to be STM. Just has to be.
The first hour is one of my favourite pieces of cinema ever. The Smallville sequence up until the fortress reveal I think, at least nostalgically, is my favourite piece of cinema ever. The photography and music is perfect. I almost don't want Superman to turn up.
Then we get the helicopter rescue. The most tense action sequence in a superhero movie I think.
Later on a lot of the Lex stuff lets it down heavily but Reeve is so damn good as Superman that he makes it all completely worthwhile. He's so convincing.
I love it.

For anyone not to pick the two movies that landed us on this board would be a crime, honestly. I wonder if a Tim Burton Batman devoted forum would yield such results.

Obviously STM. Only some of the Lex stuff an the ending keeps it from being a near perfect film. But it's definitely one of those occasions where everything comes together really well in terms of writers, director, cast and crew.

STM. II is a great movie but I found the older I got the worse it got while the opposite was true of STM. The good far outweighs the bad and as a whole it just works. So much of it is brilliant. It set the course and the standard and in some ways still does. Williams score is still THE superhero score. Donner treated it all with so much respect while still telling a great epic adventure story. And of course an iconic turn by Christopher Reeve. Everyone who plays any role like this will at some point be compared to him in some way or ranked next to him. Downey, Jackman, Maguire, etc. everyone.
Hey...it's a kind of magic.

STM.
I can understand voting for SII or MOS, but SIII or SR? Seriously? Explain yourselves, people.

STM. Always and forever. I know now it'll never be topped. I'm okay with that.

S3 is the only one I can watch from beginning to end.
It is paced better than STM and feels more polished and consistent.

He didn't fly.
I asked you for a great Superman movie and you're telling me you couldn't even do that one, simple thing.

Oh, absolutely. There are literally hundreds of movies better than STM, I fully acknowledge it is not a perfect movie by ANY means, not even close, but for me, it is my most personal and beloved movie ever.
