Looking a bit more grown up these days isn't he. Shame the role is already taken because I could see that guy playing Superman.

This is an extended trailer. Think it shows new stuff.. I so wish I could get into this show. It has great production values, and I did view the first season. I just think that Smallville had a more interesting take on the character myself....

Fans say the second season was much better. Well I'm going to watch it now for Brandon, though I'd like a guide to watch the essential episodes from previous seasons (not interested enough to watch filler).

Well I'm going to watch it now for Brandon, though I'd like a guide to watch the essential episodes from previous seasons (not interested enough to watch filler). Here's the thing: in the very first season, we're introduced to his family and other main supporting characters- so whenever the story goes to these other characters we're SUPPOSED to care about- it all feels like 'filler' to me... so....

I don't know what to say, CAM, but lots of fans seem to like it fine.

I don't know what to say, CAM, but lots of fans seem to like it fine. I know, I know.... I used to feel that ANY superhero tv show was ultimately a 'win' for the cause of having more superhero properties on tv--- but with Marvel having 4 netflix superhero tv shows on soon--- and given that the movies are dominated by superhero films, now- I feel less of a need for each superhero tv show to be a success and am getting pickier I think in my old age....

It really is a superhero arms race right now. I've got a lot of hope for Daredevil. The cast looks solid and it has a good show runner. Constantine is getting abysmal reviews from some. WB is just pulling in too many directions with its characters.

I'm a softie sometimes.. Brandon retweeted this tweet and added 'and fitting.'

That touched my sometimes cynical heart.

The S3 premier was pretty good, I thought. Some likable characters, cool action and a solid plot. It does feel like a CW show, but it was entertaining enough. I liked Brandon as Ray. So different to Daniel Shaw from Chuck. Hope it only gets better. I understand there will be another crossover with The Flash laters. Cool.

I thought the season premiere was good. I think Brandon may have gotten more lines in this one episode than he did in SR. So different in theis too, he's a cocky sod, but likeable with it. Looking forward to seeing more.

I wonder if they teased Routh with the possibility of a spinoff down the line? Though.... I give Routh praise for not being bitter at a company that didn't even give him the courtesy of a freaking phone call when they didn't pick up his option for SR 2 (I would have been pissed being left out of the loop, not knowing if it was going to happen or not). One wonders who picked up the phone first about the Atom part....
If the tv DC universe and movie DC universe are going to be parallel entities (and it looks that way)- I don't know why they didn't just offer Routh a tv Superman series if they're going to have parallel superhero franchises in both mediums. But then again.... WB/DC do things that rarely make any sense to me, anyhow...

I agree. That's why the "separate universe allows the different teams more freedom" excuse is TOTAL bullpoop. It's not true. We won't see much if any Superman, Batman or Wonder Woman on the tv shows. It's a one way street. The movies will be free to use anyone but he tv shows will probably be barred from using anyone WB has serious plans for on film. They've had a history of that. If the universes are really separate then let Flash and Arrow use any character they want. Let Batman show up on Arrow. Let Routh play Superman in the Arrow/Flash CW universe. He should have been superman not Ray Palmer which doesn't seem like a just right fit to me. Would have been a great way to let Routh have another crack at it. We've got two Flash's so why not? Flash also has a case of the same actor playing the same character in an totally different continuity. Not sure who could be Batman but if they also want to go the older Batman route dial Bruce Thomas number. He's an ex batman and after seeing Raze the dudes still pretty darn big.

One thing that mystifies me still with "Arrow"--- during Smallville's successful times, the showrunners offered up a Green Arrow tv show with Hartley (who I think fits the Green Arrow character better that I grew up with in the comix)--- but CW/WB didn't want it. Maybe a change of studio execs in charge? But... anyhow, I know I will pick up both "Arrow" and "Flash" when its offered up on dvd on sale- but outside of some outstanding "Smallville" episodes that have come up in the past, maybe I"m getting a little jaded because all the resources are available sfx wise now that if a superhero tv show isn't spectacular, I'm not jumping out of my seat to follow it. But.... at least they're going for actual adaptations rather than ripoffs (No Ordinary Family, etc.)....

I think they wanted to Dark Knight Arrow up more and start with the origin. Which they did.

The mid-season finale was brilliant, seriously, some amazing stuff. I watched a number of episodes of season 2 now..... it has some good stuff going for it. It's not quite how I would have liked for them to have adapted the material, but I admit that it's engaging viewing. It's not on the level of the best of Star Trek in it's heyday- where the shows had some actual substance or social commentary to it.... but very few tv shows, do. Anyhow- I agree that it's a good enough show- though for me, it doesn't hit the level of 'great' tv show (first few seasons of Chuck, Hannibal, best of Trek, etc.)... If season 3 is better (which I hear it is)- will look forward to it. Glad if Routh has a good role on the show...

Sounds like Arrow has at least broken free of the boring real world Batman Begins like restrictions and is only using it as a template for their tone.

Sounds like Arrow has at least broken free of the boring real world Batman Begins like restrictions and is only using it as a template for their tone. I've since seen more. I begrudgingly have to give Arrow credit for having an edge and committing to things I didn't expect. One thing that it DOESN'T do that Smallville did, was endless resurrections and amnesia blasts. Add to that no cloying romance as bad as Clana--- so, that helps.
