Superman The Movie: turning back time
Great film with a resolution that feels somewhat lazy. It's deus ex machine with Superman showing godlike power to change anything. It's the ultimate get out of jail free card.
Superman II: the memory erasing kiss
Similar to the end of STM it just feels like a lackluster ending that they wrote themselves into and had trouble resolving.
Superman II the RDC: Thau's editing choices
There's no one thing I can point to here but overall I just remember people being disappointed with so many of the choices Thau made from the way audio, music and footage was recut. This ones a sort of umbrella complaint.
Superman III: Gus skis off building in pink tablecloth
There a LOT to choose from so this was difficult but this scene epitomizes what's wrong with the film and how far things had fallen since Donner took Superman seriously.
Supergirl: No Superman
Again there's a lot wrong so it's not easy to single out any one thing. Everyone can agree that Christopher Reeve being involved would have been welcome.
Superman IV: Lacy breathes in space
it'd be easier to list what DID work instead of singling out one thing that didn't but this scene encapsulates everything wrong with this movie. Bad effects, poor and illogical scriptwriting, absurd situations, etc. It was close between this and "rebuild the Great Wall with supervision" but there had already been a precedent set with giving Superman crazy new powers. when people point out how bad this movie is this is the scene the bring up. I think it even has the awful "Superman flies at camera" shot.
Superman Returns: Superman has a son
A lot of people just couldn't get past this one because of everything from how it changed the status quo to how they felt it shows the degradation of Superman's morals.
Man or Steel: Superman kills Zod
This divided Superman fans along very clear lines because it dealt with what everyone saw as the core of Superman's character. The other stuff like the costume and the style was negotiable but we all have our own clear ideas of who Superman is.
Batman V Superman: "Save...Martha."
Lots of things I could have gone with here (like emo Superman, Batman killing, etc.) but the "Martha" moment is easier to pinpoint and more ridiculed. Much like "Lacy breathes in space" "Save Martha" represents everything wrong with this movies script.
