If Rocky had just sent you sailing through a glass door?
You're on the ground, covered in lacerations, and publicly humiliated in front of your girl.
What do you do?
If I was Clark, I would have cut my losses right then and there.
I'd get up and profusely apologize to both Rocky and the diner staff for causing such a scene.
I'd even offer to pay for Rocky's meal to make restitution and then promptly sit down and shut up.
I mean what are the alternatives... try to fight Rocky again and take a further beating?
Thoughts?

Actually, Lois might have kicked the bully's arse if it wasn't for the restaurant owner stopping the fight. That's why Margot was great casting. She seemed fiesty and likeable (in the Donner parts anyways) to want her by your side. Amy Adams- too soft spoken for Lois Lane. Maybe they coulda/shoulda cast Nicole Kidman, she seems tougher. |

Yes, that's why he foolishly challenged him to a fight.
Once Rocky threw him through the glass door Clark should have realized that he bit off more than he could chew and left it alone.
Rocky even says "boy you just don't have enough sense to stay down do you!"
Any one of us would NEVER have escalated that fight after being through through a glass door like a rag-doll.

If Clark tried to go for Rocky a 3rd time, I could imagine him getting thrown through multiple glass doors again and again Robo-Cop style.

Yes, as a rational person you and I would have purchased Rocky a milkshake for fear of him giving us a further beating. Why did Clark challenge Rocky a second time? He thought he could win? |

Besides it was really Clark's choice to be humiliated.
Clark could have reacted better after going through that glass and taken control of the situation to finish it on his own terms.
Ron: You alright fella?
Lois: He's gonna be fine just give me that!
Clark: (Trembling) I'm alright Lois...just.... just tripped that's all.
(staggers up and slumps over to Rocky, head down)
Clark: Sir, I'm not going to escalate this situation any further. Here's some money for your meal and I'm sorry that I let things get out of hand. Come on Lois let's sit down.
(Clark and Lois take a seat at the table and start to eat in awkward silence)
Lois: Oh Clark, that gash in the side of your face is bleeding profusely.. you sure we don't need to got to a hospital to get you stitched up?
Clark: I'm fine Lois.. doesn't even hurt... I just tripped.. like on that pink bear.... coulda happened to anyone! You gonna eat that pickle?
(Clark grabs Lois's pickle wedge off her plate and jams it into his head gash plugging the wound)
Clark: See? Good as new!
(Rocky overhears, walks over to Lois)
Rocky: Hey! I'm ready to sample your meat now sweetheart!
Clark: Lois.. uh.. I think you better uh.....
