Over at caped wonder there is a video posted of a trailer for "Superman the Movie Silver Screen Edition." Not sure what this means exactly. A fan preservation of a 35mm print? That would be great, in my opinion. With the 4K coming, this could be a nice addition. Check it out.

I just am still hoping that before this year (and the anniversary year) runs out, that WB doesn't give up on/ or tries to- restore and release an SII tv extended cut. I would have easily traded in the upcoming 4k or Supergirl blu ray restoration for that instead. Would be a pity if the 4k is the end of what's going to be 'new' from the Reeve films for awhile.

I believe STM is coming back to theatres for its 40th anniversary. Could be related to this.

Not sure if this is completely necessary since the Blu-ray releases of the theatrical cut and the TV cut have had decent film-like transfers. Might be fun to look at once for the novelty of seeing a transferred film print, but I think we’re covered when it comes to Superman: The Movie. Let me know when Burton’s Batman films are transferred from a film print. Those are a stark contrast from their current video releases.

I believe STM is coming back to theatres for its 40th anniversary. Could be related to this. It would be a real treat to see STM on the big screen but I’d love to see a Blu-ray release of the theatrical cut with the original audio and unaltered video. clean of the dirt and scratches and in hd but no fixes like the blue screen flying shot at the damm. I think as close as I’ve got to that is a version I recorded off HBO a million years ago long before the 2001 dvd release. Just as a completist and for nostalgic purposes I’d love to have that.

I wonder if there will be a new surround sound mix that’s taken from the original mix. The new Grease Blu-ray dropped the remixed sound for a new one taken from the original mix.

It's a pity it wasn't an alternate version to include with the box set....

I have the Star Wars Silver Screen edition, which is a fan project. It's a scan of a 35mm print of the movie on blu ray. It could be something similar, or just a coincidence with the name. I haven't heard about anyone putting together a project like this for Superman. Edit: Just had a look online and it looks to be something similar. www.supermanhomepage.com/superman-the-movie-the-35mm-silver-screen-edition/

Is this the highest rate it’ll be GB wise?

No idea. Unfortunatley this isn't sourced from a print, from the looks of it it's sourced from several versions of the blu ray and a 16mm print. The 35mm look has been acheived though filters and the addition of grain. It makes for a different look, but not ultimately a viewing experience I'm after. Had this been sourced from a real print and cleaned up a bit, like several other projects I've seen, it could be something really special.

Any idea where the original six track audio is from?

Any idea where the original six track audio is from? The audio is just 2 channel, and 317kbps at that, so pretty poor.

That description was very deceptive. I see the link has been removed.
