I saw that and thought it was hilarious. I want one. The beat up jacket and glasses make it. I recently got a dc multiverse super friends Superman and while it looks nothing like that character model it’s definitly the classic looking early 70s to early 90s Superman figure I’ve wanted for a long time. Just the right shades of red and blue and he’s even got a cloth cape with the c clip for the neck just like the old super powers figures used to.

So I finally got around to getting one of these...and I like it a lot. I’ve got some issues with it like those awful new upper hips (need to be bigger) and the way too small waist but otherwise it’s a good figure. The head sculpt is great and the accessories really do make him worth it. Love the removable glasses, tie, and ripped up jacked you can put over the his costume. He even has a removable bizarro number one stone necklace. The figure really has a lot of character.

On a similar note, I saw a facebook page of Arnie Kim's sculptures of the Phantom Zone Criminals--- HOPING that Hot Toys contracts him to do it. They're amazing but I have a horrid feeling it'd cost a fortune.

I could see them releasing Zod but I think the other two are a long shot. SII’s 40th is right around the corner so now this would be the best time.

Arnie Kim shared a photo on a facebook page of it- but said that there was no deal in place. (I guess he did it for himself/ and/or spec). Definitely worth saving pennies for, though. sidenote: I noticed that Hot Toys seemed to bump up their prices significantly in the last several years.... more production costs? Licensing fees? The average seemed to be $200 for figures, but the average seems $300 plus now. Yikes.

Maybe McFarlane will make them now that he’s got a DC figures license. I even want them to do another Reeve. The neca one was ok but I still thought it was overrated.
As for Hot Toys not only did the prices get slowly bumped up but for some figures they’ve set release dates two years away. Not sure what’s going with them. Is it rising production costs, higher licensing fees, or higher oil prices? Sure their product has greatly improved in recent years but if I were a hot toy collector I’m not sure all the new hassles would be worth it. $300 dollars a pop is a lot to ask especially if you have to wait years to get the figures.

True.... $200-$250 is a tops, and even then, I'm pretty selective. I would have liked to have gotten the Alita figure, but not at $300. If there were a Helen Slater Supergirl or the Phantom ZOne criminals, I'd make an exception, though.... but definitely would have to pinch pennies hard to make that happen...

I love the look and quality of hot toys figures and keep up with news on them but I just don’t have that money to spend or the space. I’m afraid if I got one my completionist mindset would kick in and I’d be living on the street. Or even if I cherry picked...at 300 dollars a pop I’d be living on the street. It’s great for people who can afford them but I still think they’re at least $50 bucks too high now.

Also, I hear you on having that 'completist' addiction -- for me, it's worst with dvd sets. If a season is mostly good, I'll pick it up.... but then I'm stuck also buying the following seasons when on sale, even if they suck.

Yeah me too. That’s why I go for best of sets when I can. I’m also more willing to buy shows that have ended their run. That way I won’t be stuck buying forever. My Doctor Who dvd collection is taking up a huge amount of space because of that.
