This would be with both or either Donner/Lester versions, no need to be picky: Some of these mentioned forever before & not really mentioning the 'big' things (Margot's horrible wig & the Metro battle rewrite & the useless battle in the FOS)- but more minor things...
#1: Of course, the 'gap' in the Mank script that purposely lept over how Supes and Lois went to and from the FOS. Lester's rewrite (and the Donner footage) including showing Supes flying LOis to the FOS.... so there's always been that funky 'how did they cross the freezing mountains and rent a car' thing. Some things are best not dwelt on, but I've always wondered if there were a graceful way to make this work without getting overly bogged down in exposition.
#2: Why did Donner choose for the blinds to be on in the attack of the Daily Planet? In some of the still photos, it is kind of annoying how that 'hero' shot is obscured by the blinds unnecessarily. I guess it could be argued so that it wouldn't be SO obvious that Supes was right in front of the offices when he showed up, but still... just wondered.
#3: Zod holds onto the gun right before entering the White House office, then it mysteriously disappears. Both versions. Oops.
#4: Zod actually had a rough plan outlined in the extended Mankiewicz zod speech for dominating the world... but both versions had Zod bored in the white house- and it's always bugged- wasn't the addition Lester and not Donner footage? Mank's script started the bit in the White House with the trio occupying the desk with Ursa killing another person offscreen rather than Zod bored.
#5: The frozen water fountain at the end in front of the White House. SO sloppy!
#6: If the footage was shot (according to Ilya Salkind) on Ursa destroying Mount Rushmore, why on earth didn't Thau include it in the Donner cut? Ug.
In any case.... isn't this the 40th anniversary this year for SII? Where's the cool stuff to celebrate this year, WB?
