Yeah he’s got too high an opinion of his talents as a writer and storyteller. I wonder if he can even see or admit his weaknesses.
James Gunn wrote the DOTD remake so no surprises there. As far as MOS vs BvS BvS has the more fun action IMO but I thought MOS’s FX sequences looked better and it was also the better film. I thought BvS was a much sloppier film story wise.

I think because MOS focused more on Batman instead of Superman, less of Snyder's weaknesses I felt came up with the dramatic scenes. Also, if I recall correctly, there was more written by Chris Terrio and perhaps less Goyer in BvS.

I think Snyder was more right for and more at home with the Batman stuff but that’s just half the movie. It’s so overstuffed and messy whereas man of steel feels more focused. Snyder never did really figure our how to mesh the two characters worlds together.

Snyder never did really figure our how to mesh the two characters worlds together. I agree.... Snyder is more at home with a 'dark' tone- though superficial. But the performances worked better I thought in BvS than MOS (and most of Watchmen) where the scenes felt awkward and stilted (perhaps the script didn't help). In any case.... I do think Snyder has great visual gifts and is a comic fan, but.... I just find a lot of the choices he makes too off the wall at times on established characters that drive me up the wall. Watchmen was an obscure project to begin with- so I kind of forgive that.... but Goyer and Snyder on Superman as horror movie was just ultimately wrong.

If anything I thought the performances came off worse in BVS. Cavill is worse. Adams has less to do. So does Lane. Eisenberg is awful. Affleck and Irons come off better but they weren’t in MOS.

I think it works better mainly because it's more a Snyder Batman moive than Snyder Superman movie. The two pieces of gold in it imo are the Batman action sequence and Wonder Woman.

The problem is it was trying to be both and only one side of that (kinda) worked and the two sides didn’t really fit together in his film. Someone else probably could have made it work but the creative gymnastics he had to do to bring them together caused all sorts of problems and I still don’t think he pulled the movie off as a whole.

I think as far as 'watchability'- I still think BvS is far easier to go through compared to MOS.... but, no, as a whole, it really never really works unless you totally embrace Snyder's dark interpretation of Supes.

I think MOS is easier to watch because it’s far less convoluted and has a better focus. BvS is trying to do far too much and does little of it well. The Batman stuff is “fun” at times but even that has many of the same flaws.

Neither will most people apparently.
