Well... often there are the tube videos and images with Reeve and Michael Keaton as Batman ---and Reeve still looked fine as Supes by the time the '89 Batman came about- (as Superman IV was in '87)-
But- If STM/SII came out in '79 and '81'---
If Donner finished and bullt his own Justice League on that-
What actors would have been the right actors to cast if in the early 80's and not during the later 80's - we've kind of seen the dream casting already (Wesley Shipp, Keaton, etc.)
lynda carter finished the WW series in '79- so she might have been right if casting WW-maybe... or maybe there's a better casting if at that time-
What of the rest?
If in the early 80's- What would have been good for:
* Batman/Bruce Wayne? * Flash? (If not Wesley Shipp- who played him in 1990) * Green Lantern? * Green Arrow? * Black Canary? * Hawkman? * Atom? * Wonder Woman if not Carter during that time?
Any thoughts? Anyone?

Here's a quick list of the top of my head. I imagine this being released 85/86.
* Superman - Reeve * Batman/Bruce Wayne - Alec Baldwin * Flash - Eddie Murphy or Emilio Estevez * Green Lantern - Rob Lowe * Green Arrow - Tom Selec or Don Johnson * Black Canary - Daryl Hannah * Hawkman - Dolph Lundgren * Atom - Michael Douglas * Wonder Woman - Kelly Le Brock

That helped open the doors to thinking of others... Alec Baldwin would have been interesting- I think your pick of Don Johnson would have been great for Green Arrow- * Batman/Bruce Wayne- (maybe) Ray Liotta or Rob Lowe * Flash? - John Cusack * Green Lantern?- John Schneider * Green Arrow- Jan Michael Vincent * Black Canary?- Melanie Griffith * Hawkman?- Val Kilmer * Atom? - Alan Ruck * Wonder Woman- Mia Sarah

Jack Nicholson would have been good as the Joker in that era too.

Mia Sarah was so cute back in the day, but a bit young looking I think. Black Canary and Green Arrow?

First off Hollywood wouldn’t have gone with most of my choices. They’d want more “hot” big names of the era. My thinking is “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it.” If it was in the 80s and I could have anyone I’d go with my usual list of: Superman: Christopher Reeve Batman: Michael Keaton Wonder Woman: Lynda Carter Green Lantern: Kurt Russell or Dennis Quaid Flash: John Wesley Shipp Aquaman: Dolph Lundgren For the “Hollywood studio” choices for some roles I’d go with Joan Severance as Wonder Woman, Tom Selleck as Batman, and Kevin Bacon as Flash. Everyone else would stay the same. I thought about Pierce Brosnan as Batman but I’m not sure he was quite rugged enough in the 80s. Really hard to think of good choices for Wonder Woman back then since a lot of the best choices didn’t start making names for themselves until the 90s. Brooke Shields for example was way too young. I wasn’t thinking of it but Shipp and Bacon started their careers working together in soaps so like Shipp Bacon had those good guy small town America looks. Then it becomes a question of do I use Martian Manhunter or Cyborg (that’s if I use either of them at all). I might go with Liam Neeson as Martian Manhunter and Denzel Washington as Cyborg.

Superman: Christopher Reeve Batman: Michael Keaton Wonder Woman: Lynda Carter Green Lantern: Kurt Russell or Dennis Quaid Flash: John Wesley Shipp Aquaman: Dolph Lundgren Dennis Quaid always seems to portray (which fits okay actually) the 'bad boy/good boy' so I think he'd fit fine with Green Arrow... one of my favorite comics back then was the Green Lantern/Green Arrow comic, which had Hal Jordan as the conservative versus Ollie Queen the liberal--- which made for an interesting pairing... especially as they dove INTO the social and political scene (well, the first incarnation did anyways- the second version was more action-oriented). I couldn't think of a good actor around that time that would give off the 'traditional good looks' for a conservative Green Lantern - other than Reeve, who, of course, we have for Superman... but it's a fun problem to figure out! Kevin Bacon would be pretty good as Flash- though, of course- John Wesley Shipp is dead-on Barry Allen imo... but, I did ask for alternatives, so that's on me... Excellent choice on Dolph Lundgren!!!! Kurt Russell I think of as Snnnake Plissken. Mabye he could have been an honorary JLer!

Mia Sarah was so cute back in the day, but a bit young looking I think. Black Canary and Green Arrow? Doesn't it seem right? Mia Sara maybe would have been a perfect Donna Troy (though the current actress on the potty-mouthed "Titans" is perfect casting...)- but I think she might have been a great younger Wonder Woman.... but I'm totally open to other suggestions-

Matthew Broderick as the Flash perhaps? If we want Barry Allen to be somewhat comedic?
What of Emilio Estevez as Green Lantern/Hal Jordan instead?

I thought about some of those Hughes/Brat Pack regulars. Depending on how young you’d want to go some of them could work. For early 80s I thought some of those guys were too young. Someone like Broderick, Cusack, or even Cryer would have been good choices for Peter Parker/Spider-Man back then. I know Charlie Sheen really wanted to play the character but that was never a good fit to me.

Good point.... it's been so long ago, that I admit it might take more work than it's worth to really check out what actors really would be 'just right'- especially for something just for fun, so of course, keeping it 'loose'. Back to fantasy casting... I think it might all have to do best with chemistry with Reeve as well - The advantage to using Keaton, Shipp, and Carter is that they'd already been established around that decade as the character and it worked (to varying subjective degrees) so it's easier to envision. Keaton Batman I always think of as Keaton/Burton's Batman.... Without TIm Burton, I certainly wouldn't feel like he was the best choice for Batman. Like Ben Affleck, he committed and I respect that- but the celebrity history behind it doesn't make me just see the character. For sure, when Nolan/Bale's Batman came out--- and was 'canon' for me- I was able to appreciate Keaton/Burton's Batman more for the stylish variation it is... kind of like an 'Earth-Two' Batman to this old fanboy's head. Ray Liotta was only two years younger than Reeve--- and to be honest, when I first saw him in "Dominic and Eugene"--- I automatically thought he was perfect for Bruce Wayne/ Batman- plus, the edginess that he has. Great ideas percolating here, though...

The problem with trying to put together all the disparate versions of the characters that were created separately by totally different creative teams is how do you make them fit together. With the MCU they were designed to share the same universe and were in films created by the same people. Trying to fit Reeve’s Superman and Keatons Batman and their worlds together is like trying to mix oil and water. It would be very very difficult to make work. You could lean into it as part of the story but you still have to get them in the same scenes and get the tones right.

It would have been fascinating to see that- but, of course, who would have been perfect to meld movies with different tones? Rrrrrrrichard DOnnnnner!!!! In retrospect, I now and then think about how amazing the script was for the first Avengers, though--- whie you're right that the MCU always planned for them to unite under the same studio.... putting together a story that could really service them all and have it make sense was pretty amazing. That it would end on such a satisfying note with "Endgame" years later is REALLY amazing imo...!!!
