I wasn’t expecting anything special from tonight’s new episode but I think it’s one of the best ever and shows why Cryers Lex is so good. This guy is crafting a plan so intricate I had trouble keeping up. He’s playing all sides against each other with callbacks going back months or even years. It’s impressive how well they mapped out and kept up with events. I had to think back to previous episodes to remember of it made sense and it did. I actually thought the death of a major supporting character was just a piece of character building for the others since they had no more use for him. Spoiler: it wasn’t. It had a much deeper meaning.
I do wonder if this episode was planned this way all along or was all the flashback footage used because of current world events and the production shutdown? Did they just have to work with that they had? If thats the case I’m even more impressed.

that’s cool- but it also makes me sad as the lockdown made them rewrite this season’s finale, if the writing was good

I know they didn’t get to finish shooting the finale but I have no idea if they finished production and post production on other episodes or not. Even this episode was pushed back a couple of times. Even if they were done filming on some episodes I’m not sure they got to finish everything else before all this started. The use of archival footage in this episode was substantial so it makes me wonder. They tied it in well though.

I'm going mainly off of the interview on "Couch Surfing" that you shared about Cryer mentioning how the finale was supposed to have him in it and defeated, but since they didn't shoot it, they had to do a whole other thing... but... it'll be interesting to see if the next seasons reflect what's going on in 'the real world' or not.... and I'm not sure I WANT it to reflect the real world with the masks or not.... It's kind of life how Singer & the writers wanted to address the whole 'do we mention 9/11 or not in SR'--- and chose to make it vague on the timeline and vague on when he was away from Earth...
