I saw photos, but not video of these prototypes (I assume) before this: www.youtube.com/watch?v=LEgG33KeUJ4Hopefully this means it's on the way..... but not before I can afford them!

They do look great. Is that Superman his too? Also great. The original was good but could definitely use an update in everything from sculpt, paint, body and costume to stand up to modern Hot Toys figures. Routh Superman needs it even more. Either SR or COIE version will do. Or why not both?

The villains like the Superman he made previously are private commissions not made for Hot Toys. It's a shame as these are bloody good sculpts. I'd prefer them 1/6 scale though.

When he had photos on a Facebook post last year, I think I asked him directly about Hot Toys.... I don't remember exactly what he said, but it was his wish, too.... I think he mentioned something about just all the red tape and whatnot that had to happen first... Such a pity. I agree they're phenomenal. But--- I don't imagine they'll be cheap--- but I wonder if the holdup is the sales.... why is it there are only two Superman Reeve Hot Toys but half a dozen Black Widow versions from them? The sales of course probably dominate, but.... were the sales of the Reeve Superman that underwhelming??? (compared to Black Widow?)

If given a choice between SR or COIE- I'd pick the latter... the 's' shield I always thought too small in SR...

The Routh Superman was passable for the time but not one of their best. The Reeve superman was great for it’s time but could use an update with a taller broader body and a better suit. They’ve scaled up a little in recent years so some older hot toys look kind of puny next to newer ones.

I wondered why Reeve's Superman has/had been cheaper than many of the Marvel ones.... more expensive licensing from dealing with Disney/Marvel? Or the actors? One wonders... On another note- kind of underwhelmed by the Hot Toys' rendition of Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman. I don't feel like they really captured the face well....

Original release price or aftermarket price? Original release: it was probably licensing fees. Especially now. As successful as the MCU is and with fan demand Disney can charge a lot. Aftermarket is probably also about fan demand. The popularity of the MCU and related merchandise has exploded in the last five years or so.
As for Gadot I agree. None of the hot toys face sculpts have really nailed her likeness. I think she just has one of those kinds of faces that’s hard to capture. It’s not like Hot Toys doesn’t have access to talented sculptors.

As popular as Reeve Superman is..... can't figure out why on earth the sales haven't prompted more figures....
