Inspired by the discussion on the other thread: Chris Reeve on Love Of Life in 1976: www.youtube.com/watch?v=jXfDWlPl0z8Christ this guy was thin! Still...amongst the schlock of the soap....you can tell that Reeve has that underlying charisma. People tend to forget that Reeve essentially did a DiNiro by bulking up for STM! And here is young Henry Cavill in 2001's Laguna(it's a cheeky little flick...I personally enjoyed it) www.youtube.com/watch?v=ghz1CLpucL0If Chris Reeve by any remote chance saw this Cavill flick in 2001....he would have shivered at just how much young Cavill resembled a young Reeve himself!

There are several interviews where Reeve is quite critical of the whole soap opera acting routine...…..still I am glad he used it as a springboard to other things!

Reeve may not have liked the content but he’s said he liked being able to make his own money while he worked on stage and looked into other opportunities. He’s also said he appreciated the experience he got acting for the camera and doing things like retakes and hitting marks. I’ve heard a lot of actors say that about their early experiences and how invaluable working in television at that pace was.
It’s interesting to look at all the actors who played the character early in their careers. You look at a 20 something George Reeves in Gone With The Wind and you can tell he had something. I remember people throwing Cavill’s name around for Superman all the way back when he did The Count of Monte Cristo because he looked a bit like Reeve.
Most of the guys who’ve played Superman since Reeve were in that mold in terms of looks that’s why they got noticed. Newton, Christopher, Welling, Routh and Cavill all had varying features that reminded people of Reeve. Some just had it more than others. Even Brandon Routh commented on meeting Cavill in passing and being surprised how much he looked like Reeve in a way different from how Brandon himself did.

Speaking of alternate actors for Superman... Now and then I wonder in an alternate universe, if that dentist who was considered for Superman had been hired- how would that have turned out??? Very, very, very different at the very least... On a similar tangent: I think I would have been okay with Lesley Anne Warren as an alternate Lois, if we didnt' have Margot--- though I would have had her tone down the silliness in the audition....
