Happy new year's all (who are here)!
Went to the WB studio tour that opened up that is apparently about a year old (or so)-
Overall- I thought the tour was worth the money - but it's a mixed bag.
It kind of gave a 'little bit' of everything.
First, they have a 'mini' (one room) museum of framed pictures and historical tags of the history of WB-
Second, there's a mini-theatre with a five minute 'best of' compilation clips of WB's famous movies-
STM thankfully had a few seconds (though all the films mostly only had a few seconds). Would have been fine if longer, but then again- it's an $80 tour...
Then, the host brings you to the bus and gives a detailed drive and walking tour of the standing exterior standing sets- which- I didn't know this.... are rented out to ALL studios, so there's trivia on multiple tv shows/movies. Amont them, got to see the exterior of the Lois and Clark daily planet set and the (Undressed) Blade Runner set among others.
Third, they land at a building that has series of connected multimedia presentations showing the different stages of production - like mini-classrooms on sound, storyboarding, scriptwriting, etc.- tiny but very nice presentations- along with (in purchase) green screen video setup if you want to have video of you or loved ones riding the batcycle from Dark Knight returns or Harry potter's broom against a background. There was a casting multimedia where you could click onto an actor's photo and you'd see their video resume- and they had one of Reeve from STM- very cool-- as there were only a limited number of actors.
On the flip side, the building/coffee shop was a bit too 'Friends' heavy- (not a fan of Friends either) but clever I suppose as there had to be a real coffee shop so why not make it tailored to fans of a show, too?
Then- you have the option of tramming to the DC/Harry Potter building. I could care less about Harry Potter (I don't hate it, but indifferent)- but was more interested in the superhero/DC stuff.
As expected, the DC stuff wasn't really all that interested in highlighting creators, but their current movie properties for photo ops. Mainly the new Batman, Gal Gadot WW, and the new Justice League/ Shazam costumes & statues- but also a smaller side one for Reeve/Keaton/Lynda Carter's costumes.... at least it was there, but I would have loved it if they included photos of the actors alongside.
The DC souvenir shop wasn't bad- but the souvenir book which highlighted key events of the years did a big omission- Burton's Batman is listed, but not Donner's STM...WTF? That REALLY annnoyed. But, at least there's some nods to STM at the WB studio tour. And I thought overall it was worth it. But... just.
