Between the Donner cut and the 'extended' Donner cut- weird that there doesn't seem to be a solid answer we trust.
Michael Thau says that it was a cut that the studio did behind his back- but what would be the reason for that?
In any case- Even at 2 minutes longer, still an improvement- but...
Theory is that it's a mistake and that it's an earlier draft by Thau, but-
Just weird.
And.... just want the international SII cut on blu/wide.

I don’t understand at all why Thau is evading the truth. It’s a simple manner of the original cut he did being released on digital instead of the final cut that was released on DVD and Blu-ray. It’s not the first time this has occurred. The only reason the public was given knowledge of a narration-less version of Blade Runner was because Warners accidentally sent out a 70mm version of a workprint and not the theatrical version. I for the life of me can’t find the correct source (I was sure it was on the commentary), but Donner specifically mentioned how he didn’t like the way the soufflé scene was filmed and how he thought the villains killing a child was too much. That’s why they were cut out.

I think the missing two minutes shows the villains going around the world to rule it, and destroying key monuments like the Eiffel Tower and Washington Monument.

The oddball thing is that Ilya mentioned himself that the Rushmore destruction bit had alreadt been shot by Donner- so why not include it?
