Technically, I guess James Gunn has already done that...

MOS has parts I like in it, but it's ultimately a disaster. I do wonder if James Gunn's reboot and the new WB verse can 'save' Superman.
One concern is: even if it's great, will audiences be too burned out by mediocre superhero material by then to support it with movie tix? Only time can tell...

I am afraid I fit into that audience section who is suffering from a bit of burn out. Spiderman No Way Home showed there is life in the ol' beast yet.......but it relied heavily on preknowledge, fan service and nostalgia to pull off a great deal of it's magic party tricks. They were great and I thoroughly enjoyed it but if one is objective: ..... it's not a stand alone piece....in the manner of Raimi's original Spidey from 02 or Nolan's Begins. I am wondering how an 8 year old who never saw any of the Maguire or Garfield flicks(and maybe even some of the earlier Holland ones too) would have reacted when Andy and Tobey popped in through those interdimensional port holes. It's an interesting predicament for sure. IMHO, the Roussos were the ones to breath life into the Marvel set pieces with their kaliedoscopic style......had it not been for them.....maybe the franchise would have waned even earlier. Feige set the orchestra but it was the Roussos who conducted it. And since their departure , it seems to have gone downhill for Marvel. On edit: I see that the Roussos have struggled since they left Marvel too.....so maybe it was match made in heaven when they were together.

I was already starting to feel pain when so much superhero tv was getting to be medicore- especially knowing HOW LONG it took for ANY superhero live action adaptation to be produced well- let alone be good. The over-saturation of superhero material helped make it much less of an event now. Hopefully it can be reversed, but.... at least conventions with still-enthusiastic fans fill that missing energy of fans excited about the comic book characters. But.... the next few years will see if Marvel (or DC) go extinct for awhile moviewise if the general public doesn't show up.
