Now, outside of the rare Fathom events showing, everyone enjoys this at home. But- to simulate the theatre experience, what is your best concession snack of choice for a viewing?

I put down one of my favorites, taco bell, but the mad a.i. has turned it into elephant bell. Ugh.

KFC? I used to love KFC!—- ironically I’ve switched to popeye’s chicken . The right one isn’t greasy and the mash potatoes rock! (Though I’m not happy that Lester had the actress eat popeye’s chicken in the shot with Supes throwing the zod dummy.

crown & CAM " I am going to destroy the entire Columbian coffee crop right down to the last bean!" The last bean? I love Richard Pryor, but I found most of the scenes he had forced and unfunny (Not his fault, the script was horrible). If you had to make it a comedy, (which you didn't), and you had to sideline Superman in his own sequel (which you didn't), then maybe Mr. Bean would have made SIII more palatable.

I wish we could know more details on how Pryor ended up playing the role he ended up with. They could have easily fashioned the Superman villains The Toyman or The Prankster to his abilities. He still could have been manipulated by another villain if it was a stipulation not to make him a villain on the level of Luthor or Zod. I never bought the detail that Gus Gorman was supposed to Brainiac.
In my perfect world, I would have loved to have seen Pryor and Robin Williams pair up with Williams doing his Mork from Ork routine as Mxyzptlk. Dudley Moore could have worked for me too, but it just would have been fun to have seen Reeve and Williams, roommates at Juilliard, together in a film together. That opening slapstick sequence in Superman III would have been considered genius if we had seen Mxy being the cause of all of the mayhem.

The role was written specifically for him by those hilarious screenwriters. (sarcasm alert). Loved Pryor in other films- and he played the script as funny as it could probably be from the script--- but it wasn't the right script (or movie) for him. Same with "the Toy".

I guess I just can’t believe that the Salkinds and co. we’re so taken by Pryor’s apparent statement on the Tonight Show that he would like to be in a Superman movie to commission a story and screenplay without any word with him beforehand. What if he ended up turning it down? I guess that was never an option as they threw a bunch of money at him until he said yes. Still, what a gross understatement on their part to not trust Pryor’s acting abilities to play an established villain and just making him a beefed up stooge like Otis was. At least Robin Williams was trusted enough to be considered for both The Joker and The Riddler and not asked to play a part like Alexander Knox in the first Batman film.

In Starlog, the screenwriters said that Lester told them that if he did SIII- he wanted them with him. If memory serves, it might have been there where I'd read it was written with him in mind. What's interesting is that Reeve himself in interviews was less than enthusiastic to be having the Superman movie be 50/50 a Richard Pryor movie. I might be projecting, but it seems like it reading between the lines. I wonder if that's why he didn't pursue a Superman IV with the Salkinds. (Or part of it) He never blamed the actor- he said he was looking forward to working with him- but I know he must have known it wasn't Pryor's call to guide the movie that way.
