Even though I'm not one of those who thinks Brandon is a Reeve clone, sometimes the resemblance between them is so eerie (in a good way). They are like cut from the same cloth. And both men definitely have a great looks for Superman, IMO. So, CAM suggested that I should start a new thread for this particular topic, and his wish is my command. Also, if you have pictures to share on the subject, please do! It could be fun. I will copy and paste the comments posted on the other thread regarding this subject. Hope it's ok with those people. here is another example, Comments: Crazy_Asian_Man said, "Great pics, stargazer! For my two cents, I'd prefer a whole separate thread for Routh as Reeve lookalike, with images to show the similiarities, though...." Supes78, "From certain angles, Routh does resemble Reeve, only with a more sunken face and skinny neck." ihavenolegs, "Y'know, I used to think he had a skinny neck, but some of his recent pictures prove the man is getting MASSIVE! He's definitely not a guy I'd start trouble with. " UCFKevin, '"Of course he's Jewish!" always said to me the old lady saying it just KNOWS Superman's Jewish because she wants him to be. Like an old Jewish woman that wants her granddaughter to date another man. "Is he Jewish? He'd better be Jewish."'

i don't think Singer wanted someone who was a dead ringer for Chris Reeve but evoked the same reaction and had the same basic looks we associate with heroic features.
in certain instances at certain angles they DO look a lot alike but its a byproduct of BOTH of them looking like Superman.

AGREED. You know, there are some 'fans' who want a reboot and who also say that the next Superman actor should have his own look, that Routh was just too much like Reeve. And I just don't get it. I mean, I want an the actor to look LIKE the Superman from the comics in every way, not change for change. For instance, Dean, George and Welling don't really resemble the Superman from the comics; they have their own distict look BUT it ain't very Supermanly, know what I mean? Oh well... the fans and their weird ideas sometimes.. ;D

i don't have any reeve shots to compare, but routh always reminded me of reeve in the first shots that came out of him as clark kent running to do the shirt rip. also when i first saw the halloween pic, i did a double take. What about this pic? The profiles are pretty similar. borrowed it from another thread- courtesy of Supes1980.

Cain's squinty, slicked back hairdo's a throwback to Superman of old.

Now, this is Brandon before getting into the superman shape, hence why he still looks skinny.

Great additions! I have to admit, I'm starting to get mixed reactions to seeing the Reeve/Routh comparisons- #1: Cool to see, but #2: Sad, because it reminds me what a LOSS it would be if WB never makes another Superman film w/Routh soon!

^WORD. Now, I didn't do this, lol. This poster at BTs did it. He was trying to prove a point to someone... Edit: Do BOTH Brandon and Chris look LIKE Superman? Yes, I think so.

If Routh returns to the role, they need to give him a hair cut. The CK pics especially make him look like he just stepped out of an episode of That 70s Show.

They look similar and yet poles apart.
It's like someone zoned in on each feature of Reeve's face, hit the "Make Bland" button, and out came Brandon Routh. No offence to the guy, that's just what I see.

Routh just doesn't have it in the eyes.
His eyes always look welled-up, like he's been crying for hours.

Boy, Routh does have some large nostrils. They don't flare, at least, like Welling's do, but...yeah.
I don't think Routh looks that much like Reeve. He may do things to look similar to the way Reeve did, but facial structure wise, nah, they don't look too similar to each other. But as it's been said, they DO look like Superman, so they share those general similarities.
Every time I say similarity, an angel gets its wings.

His nose is rather large. Welling just has odd looking nostrils that flare when he thinks to hard. Maybe he makes them larger on purpose. I dunno.

They're very similar, no doubting it. I can't put my finger on it but even though they were of a similar age in their debut Superman movies - Chris looks like a man and Brandon still a pup.
Maybe it's because I was a child in 78 and I'm quite a few years older than Brandon.
Nah thats not it - when I watch STM Chris is still Superman and Brandon is - not quite there yet. He'll be great if given another Superman movie, it's been 4 years since pre production on SR so the time is NOW.

Tom Welling's flaring nostrils are very distracting to me. I met Brandon in 2006...very nice gentleman like Chris. Will he be the George Lazenby of the Superman film series? Time will tell. Speaking of George, does anyone remember him as Jor-el in the Superboy TV series? If not, you can see him in this gallery: capedwonder.com/CW-Superboy-BTS/index.htmlJim Bowers
