My boycott of NBC will prevent me from watching Routh and Kreuk on Chuck. Although I am still watching Conan's Tonight Show reruns till the end of the month.
Great to see pics of Routh, though.

Yes! Seriously, Brandon's character is really cool, and he is doing a really good job with it so far, imo. He's playing this icy, ruthless and commanding super-spy, but there is more to him than it seems on the surface. Here it's a link with part of the last episode. Brandon is in it. This is probably my favorite scene of him in the show so far. He's truly great in it, imo, and TOTALLY exudes the Superman. Just know that Kristin Kreuk is in this too.. she did a good job, I think, but if you don't care for her much, just forward to the 3:45 min mark to watch Brandon's scene. ;D www.youtube.com/watch?v=IRf22v1G0ggAlso, for those interested, here are two links with the episodes Brandon has appeared in the show so far. Check them out, they're fun. But just know that this show is a dramedy, so it doesn't take itself too seriuously, though the drama part is really powerful most of the time, IMO, Ep. 3.04 "Chuck vs. Operation Awesome" (Brandon's character first appearance) www.chuckmeout.com/mission-watch-chuck-vs-operation-awesome/Ep. 3.05 "Chuck Vs. First Class" www.chuckmeout.com/mission-watch-chuck-vs-first-class/So 'gazer, how many episodes will he be in? He started out with 4 but they extended his arc to 8 episodes. At least. Looks like the showrunners liked what he did. Oh, and remember, there is a new ep tonight, though Brandon does not appear in it. He will in the following ones, though. Still, it's a good idea to watch if you want to understand the storyline better, I think. .

More DC Movies ComingWarner Bros. execs hint at upcoming announcements. by Scott Collura February 3, 2010 - Time Warner announced its quarterly earnings today -- Good news! They made more money than you can possibly imagine -- and during the requisite company conference call, executives hinted at their plans for their film arm, Warner Bros., and more specifically their DC Comics adaptations. The entire call is couched in typically opaque corporate speak, but the long and short of it is that we can apparently expect a bunch of announcements soon on the movie futures of characters like Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman. The execs promise that they will shortly be revealing "plans to mine more aggressively the deep catalogue of DC Comics characters across Warner Brothers' theatrical, home video, TV and games divisions and across our other divisions as well." As per Seeking Alpha's transcription of the call: "[Regarding] DC, we are going to have a fairly interesting set of announcements and presentations pretty soon … like in a matter of weeks, I think," said TW Chairman & CEO Jeff Bewkes. "About our plans for DC, and basically if you look across the title of the whole band of hits, whether its Batman, The Dark Knight, Green Lantern coming up, Superman, there have been a huge number of franchised films that have been part of the Warner [tent pole] strategy that's been the reason for Warner's unparallel[ed] high and consistent earnings advantage over the other studios. … And DC has already been a part of that and we are now going to outline an even more expansive plan for that in the coming months." So, essentially, stay tuned…movies.ign.com/articles/106/1066347p1.html yaaawn

I would think that Steel Returns has to be a priority before Shaq gets too old.

Nah, I think this little update about the DC Entertainment announcement of plans is true. I think it'll be released soon.
Think about it. How well has Marvel done with the movies? Pretty damn well, overall. But they may have flooded the gates. Now it's time for the DC characters to get their shot. WB/DC know this. They HAVE to.
Plus there were prior rumors earlier this year about this being announced around next month or so.
Here's hoping there's gonna be something worth hearing. I'm not expecting Superman whatsoever, but moreso perhaps a Flash movie, another Batflick would be cool, Lobo's gonna suck if it's PG-13, though.

www.deadline.com/hollywood/its-a-bird-its-a-plane-its-chris-nolan-heck-mentor-superman-3-0-while-preparing-3rd-batman/This is a very interesting part of the article... Let us emphasize that Superman 3.0 is in the early stages of development. And we doubt Nolan would direct. This wouldn't be a sequel to Superman Returns but a completely fresh franchise. As one of our insiders reassures: “It would definitely not be a followup to Superman Returns." Nolan coming on board follows a hiatus period for Superman after that 2006 reboot as the studio tried to figure out whether or not to make a sequel to that version starring Brandon Routh directed by Bryan Singer. As recently as this summer, Warner Bros was still contemplating how to proceed. We were told that "Bryan or Brandon are not completely out of it yet. But Warner Bros doesn't have a handle yet on it, either. [Producer] Jon Peters is trying to make something happen since he stands to benefit financially. But they [the studio] need to hear a great story that makes sense." Another insider explained to us, "We know what we don't want to do. But we don't know what we want to do. We learned a lot from the last movie, and we want to get it right this time."sigh.... what to think? BRING ROUTH BACK, dammit!!

If you read it on the internet, then it has to be true.
Seriously, nothing is going to happen. As much as I want to believe this article, it's what the British call trash: rubbish.

No reply to that particular quote, gazer?
With a HUGE budget and a great Supes, how did they fuck it up in the first place?

I think that's the problem. THE HUGE budget. If Singer had a budget of $100MM instead of $200MM, then SR would have been considered a financial success. Singer would have been forced to use Routh in the flying scenes and he would have cut down his expenses. Instead he spent a lot of cash on CGI Routh. BAH!

Yeah, They let Singer have a huge budget and let him spend it on the other side of the world.
Guys, IF this Nolan story is true, Singer is out. I seriously doubt Singer will come back to the series if he feels he will be working under Nolan. Singer would probably resents all the freedom Nolan is getting out of WB with Batman and his pet projects. Especially when you consider Batman Begins wasn't a super smash hit (like Superman Returns) but Nolan got a second crack and made TDK. Singer wouldn't get that shot. I just don't think Singer's ego will allow him to come and direct under the guy who is there to "fix" his film.
BUT I'm sure Brandon Routh would be more than willing to return as Supes. I think Nolan is smart enough to see we don't need a full blown reboot or another origin story. If this news is true, then it's good news.

The problems (for me) with SR were script, costume and colour pallet - neither of those has anything to do with a large budget.

I'm looking at it from WB's point of view. When a studio spends a lot of money they expect a lot of money back, not for a film to do "ok" at the box office. At the end of the day they want to make quality product, but they also have to make money.
Something about the way Singer handles himself/films (not creatively, but the working relationship with the studio) turned WB off of him. For some reason they were willing to give Nolan the chance with Batman they were not willing to give Singer.

At the end of the day they want to make quality product, but they also have to make money. I think it's the other way around. Make money first, quality second. Only if quality leads to more money do they care about quality. (Batman and Robin vs. The Dark Knight) Because of the success of Batman and its sequels of diminishing returns, we got Batman and Robin 8 years later. If it makes money, who cares if it's good? B&R finally ended that as it wasn't as successful as the first three. Then they made Begins and TDK, and now are sitting in money again. But in the next 20 years, mark my words, it'll go to shit again. Catwoman was definitely a case of not caring about quality. Cheap cash-in. Remember, some asshole executive at Warner approved that script and greenlit that movie.

I think the deal with Catwoman they had to do something at that point. They had spent tons of money on the film since 1993, and 10 years later they had Berry (who was THE big star at the time) and they figured they could recoupe the lost money using her rather than a good script.
I agree, I think I stated it wrong. At the end of the WB wants and NEEDS to make money. But I think they care about quality more than most studios. Look at FOX, they used to be my favorite studio in the 80s and 90s. Most of my favorite memories of films in that time come from FOX. Now pure shit, they don't learn from their mistakes at all. I think WB learns somewhat. We also have to keep in mind that Studio heads jobs change hands, new blood comes into these studios and sometimes stupid decisions are made.

Well, it's all over the net now. This rumor may turn out to be true.
If that's the case, I just hope Nolan doesn't go the "dark" route. That would just piss me off. Supes is the LIGHT while Bats is the "Dark". I hope Nolan understands that.
