I think it's the other way around. Make money first, quality second. Only if quality leads to more money do they care about quality. Exaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaactly

"Warner Bros is trying to ready its DC Comics stalwart Superman to soar again on the Big Screen, and the studio has turned to Chris Nolan to mentor development of the movie. Our insiders say that the brains behind rebooted Batman has been asked to play a "godfather" role and ensure The Man Of Steel gets off the ground after a 3 1/2-year hiatus. Nolan's leadership of the project can set it in the right direction with the critics and the fans, not to mention at the box office. Besides, Nolan is considered something of a god at and has a strong relationship with Warner Bros after the success of Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. Though he wasn’t obligated to do so, he gave the studio first crack at his spec script Inception, and Warner Bros was able to buy it before other studios even got a sniff. While Nolan completes that Leonardo DiCaprio-starrer for a July 16th release, he's also hatched an idea for Warner Bros' third Batman installment. Now his brother and frequent collaborator Jonah Nolan, and David Goyer who co-wrote Batman Begins and penned the story for The Dark Knight, are off scripting it."

Its it just me, or is that every time WB cant figure our how to get a Superman movie off the ground, they simply go:
Hey, who made that last BATMAN movie? Lets get THAT guy!

I see your point, but they would have went with Schmacher in 1998 if they went with the LAST guy who made Batman. See things could have been worse ;D

Did you even read the article? Anyway, I find it odd that they are basically saying that he will be shepherding the project. What director is going to want to be beholden to what another director tells him? Will be interesting to watch this all unfold to say the least.

He's basically pulling a Mank. Methinks it will be a complete reboot.

I'll say this, I bet a SR sequel would be great if Nolan were around to keep Singer & his party boy ways in check ;D

I only hope Nolan has the good fucking sense to keep BRANDON ROUTH.Absolutely. Also, and this is a minor point to some fans, keep Williams's themes. They can be re-adapted or used sparingly, but don't eliminate the March for some tune-less, guitar-heavy, soundtrack. Actually, I find this to be exciting news. I thought for sure the project was dead.

He's basically pulling a Mank. Methinks it will be a complete reboot. Yeah I really have no doubts. He was very adamant that BB had nothing to do with the Burton franchise. Even wanted the posters to look different. It will be a reboot. Brandon or not. And I'm betting not.

If Nolan has say, they will not use the Williams theme. Bet on it.

So basically Nolan's role on the next Superman will be the same as George Lucas' role on Return of the Jedi (except it won't be Nolan's money at stake).

If Nolan has say, they will not use the Williams theme. Bet on it. I concur, although he may keep it because of its significance. But I'm pretty sure he won't be keeping. New Superman, new everything.

I wouldn't be at all suprised if David Goyer was in the frame for directing under Nolan's supervision:
He is a comic book nut He is the only person I could see wanting to He is now focusing on his feature career (that could mean anything) He has directed a couple of movies and episodes of FlashFoward

I love SR and always wanted a sequel. But whenever the name Christopher has been connected with Superman/boy in the past, the results have been quite good.

Whenever this news becomes 100% concrete & if we find out that its a reboot, then I will give it its own thread. Until then, we'll discuss it here.

I know! They should cast Nicholous Cage and have Superman killed and then resurected as a robot superman! Yea that would be awesome!
Seriously though no Luthor!.... Spacey did it perfect as well as Hackman in the first 2 movies. We need a more itimidating villian now... And we do not need a reboot either... You really cannot go realism like Nolans Batman with this franchise so why not just go all out.
Darkseid...
Apokolips..
Just fucking do it!

This is pretty interesting news.
They better not make Superman gritty and dark. Everything around him can be but NOT him.
And regarding whether it's a sequel to SR or a new franchise, who gives a fuck at this point, here are the things that need to happen:
1. Routh returns 2. The theme returns 3. The composer is not the editor 4. It's filmed in a place that actually LOOKS like Metropolis 5. The color palette is fixed
The CGI, I feel, will be better anyways due to advancements in technology, and I can't really say, "Get a new director" because I TRULY feel Singer is right, but he needs the right people around him. Maybe McQuarrie. I dunno.
