You can see the black background curtain when Crypton goes ka-bluey. Isn't that in STM blu-ray/DVD legsy? There is no curtain in SR Krypton explosion that I know of last time I checked.

There is a new Poll over at Superman Homepage, and Brandon is one of the options. It probably means nothing, but who knows? I think it's worth the try. Who do you want cast in the role of Superman for the next movie?A big name actor 2% [2 Votes] An unknown actor 20% [22 Votes] Brandon Routh 30% [32 Votes] Tom Welling 39% [42 Votes] Unsure/Undecided 9% [10 Votes] Votes: 108 Started: June 7 2010 www.supermanhomepage.com/news.phpThe Poll is located on the lower right side of the page. It's a members Poll only, so you need to register.

As a fan of Smallville, and Welling, I prefer Routh by a mile. It's great to see the Welling support!

Don't get me wrong, Welling has been pretty Super as of late, but Routh is the better choice.

Man, I had an amazing talk about Superman Returns last night with this chick I'm seeing. She hated it, only seen it once, and by the time I was done explaining to her what I felt the movie was about and the strongest points of it, she completely changed her mind. Wanted to watch it right then, even.
It inspired me to watch it tonight. It's been a while.

T'were it a metaphor, I would've said she loved Superman Returns instantly. We watched it in many positions that night a few times.

So, I watched Superman Returns tonight for the first time in a good while. Maybe around two years? I dunno. Whenever the PCM Blu Ray came out.
I feared I'd not care for the movie as much as I used to, due to the old fashioned effect of time and hindsight. But nope. Loved it as much as before if not more.
Bosworth is definitely the weakest link in the movie, she doesn't even LOOK like she belongs in it. Spacey isn't as bad as people and myself make him out to be, he does pretty decent with what he's given. Routh is just fantastic, although he tends to look different in every single scene he's in. It's odd. But regardless. He's excellent. I love Langella and Huntington and Posey, too, they're all perfect for the roles, although I still feel Posey would've been a better Lois than Bosworth.
I just really love the story in this. I truly do. I get what they're going for. It's about letting go, basically. Even for Superman, it ain't easy to do that. I feel like this movie deserves a sequel. It really, really does. It's a beautiful movie on its own, and yes, it is a bit drab and dreary at times, but on this viewing, the special effects weren't really too bad, in fact some scenes I thought before were obviously CGI, I wasn't too sure this time. And what a score/sound design. Simply marvelous.
I wish we would've gotten The Man of Steel. Only in dreams, I suppose.
Superman Returns rules. Still my second favorite Superman movie.

I watched it a couple of nights ago, and I feel the same way. The musical score is absolutely wonderful.

Well said. I still hope one day we can hear officially how/why things went down--- rather than so much speculation all over the place. With the Donner firing, it felt better to know the whole story from different sides. Would be curious if eventually this could come out. Maybe 30 years from now? ;0

as exploitive as WB is- i wonder if it's sheer madness to imagine and extended cut with the krypton sequence, or even a dvd/bluray re-release with a new doc featuring the footage and singer's plans for it.....
probably not as "holygrail" as brando's superman 2 scenes, but nontheless, something that we've been clammoring for.
see, of course the donner/salkind/singer-verse is shelved forever. obviously.( dammit all ) so i could see them ignoring it altogether and we never see the footage. on the other hand, in 06 the year of superman had a shit-ton of anything superman related all put out there to cash-in so i could see a SR-double dip being just as viable.
given how bad we want it- i am inclined to think we won't get it.
