as exploitive as WB is- i wonder if it's sheer madness to imagine and extended cut with the krypton sequence, or even a dvd/bluray re-release with a new doc featuring the footage and singer's plans for it..... Frankly, I don't see that as happening. When The Incredible Hulk came out, no one seemed to think a new release of the first Hulk movie was a good idea. I think WB will try and forget SR ever happened.

You can bet you'd have seen it with a new extended DVD release of SR in the build up to the Singer-verse sequel. Had that happened.

Conceptual designer Thom Schillinger who created the now famous Superman Returns style "S" logo, has just released pics of a variety of the unused ideas for font designs he had come up with for Superman Returns. "We paid homage to the Donner films with a few extruded glass logos and we hit about every 'branch' we could with over 100 logos in 3D delivered for review. Here is a sampling of what I did over the long process for both print and AV. Though fun to do, none of these type treatments were used in the finals, just the superman shield I did." And here they are: ![](http://www.comicbookmovie.com/images/users/gallerypictures/17591L.jpg) ![](http://www.comicbookmovie.com/images/users/gallerypictures/17592L.jpg) ![](http://www.comicbookmovie.com/images/users/gallerypictures/17593L.jpg) ![](http://www.comicbookmovie.com/images/users/gallerypictures/17594L.jpg) ![](http://www.comicbookmovie.com/images/users/gallerypictures/17595L.jpg) ![](http://www.comicbookmovie.com/images/users/gallerypictures/17596L.jpg) ![](http://www.comicbookmovie.com/images/users/gallerypictures/17597L.jpg) ![](http://www.comicbookmovie.com/images/users/gallerypictures/17598L.jpg) ![](http://www.comicbookmovie.com/images/users/gallerypictures/17599L.jpg) ![](http://www.comicbookmovie.com/images/users/gallerypictures/17600L.jpg) Also adds Thom: " Having had the pleasure to work on this property is every boys dream. I was most pleased to have finished the main Shield Logo for the newest Superman Returns, as well as provided all Metropolis City shots for Warner's 3rd party marketing division.
Project "Outback" as it was called then, being that it was filmed Down Under was a blast. I worked with the amazing Cindy Ruby who ran the print department when I was at The Cimarron Group, and she is a huge advocate of using 3D Design.
It started with the Shield Logo, but I also did over 300 logos and 400 still images of the main city as well as the Daily Planet globe and roof area for comps. My 3D Model was used in the Title as well by Kyle Cooper as I provided the asset back to the client for use.
The city shots were needed as the CG was not finished from the film yet, and Warner needed artwork for cereal boxes, etc., sooner, so I was able to provide artwork for that as well. One of my favorites!
Cheers, THOM" ![](http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_cScjZKJ3u3g/SwWuavBvKZI/AAAAAAAAALI/FhHfTMcuAKQ/s1600/SUPER_DVDint-01.jpg) ![](http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_cScjZKJ3u3g/SwWpioR7DnI/AAAAAAAAAK4/ynDqWu0tQuc/s1600/SupermanReturns_Shields-01.jpg) ![](http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_cScjZKJ3u3g/SwWpf73qDoI/AAAAAAAAAKw/DfOh-mqfMtM/s1600/SupermanReturns_Day%2BNite-01.jpg)

You can almost here the conversation that took place on this one: Singer to Thom: "Ok, show me a beautiful Metropolis, then show me what it would look like with that shitty filter I plan on using over the whole movie!"![](http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_cScjZKJ3u3g/SwWpf73qDoI/AAAAAAAAAKw/DfOh-mqfMtM/s1600/SupermanReturns_Day%2BNite-01.jpg)

Man, all this is awesome. I love the glass logo, all of it. Can't believe we are seeing more stuff on it.. I want more!
Makes me more sad that there will not be a sequel to this movie.
Damn you Warner Brothers.

I wonder why they went with the plain boring font logo?

I think a more appropriate question would be "at what point did Singer realize he was in over his head?"
(Spoken as a fierce defender of the film.)

I wonder why they went with the plain boring font logo? Batman Begins had a boring font. Maybe they went with it because no one complained about that one.

As a concept poster, the glass sheild works. I still don't like it as the actual style used on Routh's chest. The last clear glass style title logo would be good if it were coming at you straight on and not angled like that so awkwardly.

I really like this image. And he doesn't look 'skinny'. The red still looks a bit too dark. Could someone make it a lil brighter please? ![](http://i382.photobucket.com/albums/oo261/8-2-B-4-9-5/routh10.jpg)

I could run it through Photoshop, but not until tonight, unless someone else wants to first.
