so that's a Two-Face Doomsday? he has to rotate his head vertically for a more menacing-looking expression

Whoa! Thanks for the heads up Mav!
Freaky and interesting design..... not dissimiliar to how I felt about Singer's version of the Sentinels (which were sort of 'Transformer'-like, but in a FAR creepier way).
Interesting to have this piece of the puzzle + the interview with Dougherty previously....
Since there was talk of more than one villain--- Then...
Maybe, besides the Kryptonians who come to Earth- would they have brought or created Doomsday?
It works.....but I have to admit, it would have been neat if it really was Singer's Brainiac that was going to be used.... but since we're not seeing anything from Singer's Supes sequel anyways, maybe it doesn't matter......*sigh*
But still---- anything that is revealed, would love to know...

I think I read that concept art is from Ratner's. Not sure.

I really enjoyed Superman Returns and would like to see Margot Kidder in a cameo in the Man of Steel. Routh was excellent in the role of Clark Kent/Superman. He reminded me very much of Chris Reeve in his portrayal of Superman. Very well done.

I was just watching Superman Returns on FX, hadn't seen it in a very long time, and it was WONDERFUL. This is a great Superman film, it's magical, imo! This viewing reminded me of why I saw this movie those 'many' times in theaters. I especially loved the plane rescue scene, Clark meeting Richard, Superman listening to the cries of the world above Earth, rooftop and night fly with Lois scenes, sun recharge, lifting NK up into space, Supes falling back to Earth, Superman's speech to his son, and his final scene with Lois ("I'm always around"). Simply amazing, epic, full of heart and very well acted by all. I also adore the final shot of Superman flying towards the sun/space, the music is so beautiful! But the best is Brandon. He IS Superman in the movie. Period. Almost forget, that beating of Superman scene in the crystal island is so difficult to watch, man is Lex a $%^&! Poor Supes! But I still love it cuz is so hardcore and makes me root for the hero. Kevin rocks as Lex. It's a well-made and very elegant film with a great score, and it has lots of heart. It feels like a classic. I think it's going to age well. No, it's not perfect; some of the cgi is almost cringe worthy, a couple of parts are a bit dull, the film is a bit too dark and muddy in parts (though it didn't really bother me this time, tbh. Supes looked good during the rooftop and flying with Lois scenes). I still haven't seen it on Blu-ray. I own it, so I hope to do it soon to see if I notice an improvement in the visuals. Also, yeah, I still like Kate ok in the film, she did a good job, but I just feel like she lacked something. She's just isn't the typical Lois we're used to. I think she looks and sounds too young overall, though I bought her love for her son. However, I really liked every one else in the film.

She lacked everything, Gazer. She mailed that performance in. It doesn't help that she would have been about 14 when Jason was born by the looks of her. There's very little about SR that I actively dislike, but Bosworth is beyond dreadful.

Well, Bosworth makes me appreciate Durance a lot more. Erica Durance is the best live action Lois Lane ever!

I haven't seen enough of Durance to form an opinion (I wish JohnnyBoy could read that); my fave live action Lois is easily Phyllis Coates. F'kin bullseye!

Like most of Smallville, the writing doesn't do Durance any favors. But, she's got it all. She's hot (personally, I think she's a bit TOO hot for my Lois tastes, but whatever), but she's got the fire, wit, and intelligence for the role. ye5man, I think she's got a lot of that angry, tough, spunk that Coates had!
To tell you the truth, I love pretty much every live-action Lois for different reasons. EXCEPT for Bosworth, who looks completely disengaged and uninterested in every scene in SR. I don't for one second believe she has any feelings for Clark, Superman, Jason, or Richard. She wanted a big paycheck, and that's it.

Whoa! I have to strongly disagree with that. Yes, she was very pissed off at Supes for most of the film, and understandably so, but I bought her feelings for all of her men. Kate just doesn't embody Lois the way I was expecting, that's all. Durance embodies the role better, BUT I don't really like the way they write the character in the show, so she isn't my Lois either. I think I prefer a combination of Kidder and Kate, though. That's my Lois. Lois in SR slowly realized how hard it is to be SUPERMAN (night fly with Supes). Not easy at all. And near the end of the film she even saved the love of her life from drowning (she didn't care what Richard might think. It was then when poor Richi also realized that Lois really loved Supes and that he was Jason's real father, imo).
Like I said, Kate was ok for me, but maybe some of you don't like her at all because she was really mean to Supes/Clark for most of the film.. she wasn't all lovely or flirty as usual. I think Kate did show some spunk like when Lex kidnapped her, during the plane rescue and when she was investigating about the blackout. To each their own.

The character wasn't exactly brilliantly written, but a lot of the fault is at the actress IMO. Definitely miscast for her too youthful looks, regardless
I always thought Noel Neill was miscast too as she was too likeable so when they (rightfully) wrote Lois as pulling one over CK it didn't work cos Neill's happy personality kept coming through the character
Strangely enough, I thought she was very good in the 1940s Superman movie serial, much tougher.
Coates is by far #1 for me; that was a Lois who stood no shit. Bosworth is no way an updated version of her Lois.

Gazer, you're confusing the character's actions in the movie (which I don't think were particularly out of character) with my criticism of Bosworth's performance. It's not that I didn't believe Lois as written, it's that Bosworth was such a charmless block of wood that I didn't believe HER.

Kate I thought worked fine under Singer's direction- primarily it's the chemistry between the stars, - but after seeing how well cut the Routh/Durance video was, can't say 100% for sure that Durance wouldn't have been for more to the role & matched Routh.
Her performance worked fine, Kidder was funnier/spunkier in the role, with enough personality for two people--- which is what made STM work, I think. Superman/Clark was the nice guy who was humble enough to stand in the wings and cautious/overly responsible, but Lois (as conceived in the original comix) was the other extreme of being outspoken, reckless at times, and too much personality.
Essentially, on paper, they balanced one another.
In SR, I think as conceived, Lois is (appropriately) different because she's at that stage not only in a wholly different stage because she's responsible for possibly an even BIGGER secret than what Supes had to carry (that her son may or may not be Superman's child)--- and because she's had her heart broken by Supes' leaving for years, without knowing if he'd ever come back.
That being the case, even if Durance had taken on the role, it would be a tricky one, because of the (seeming) contradictory things that would have to be played.
Still..... moot point at this stage of the game. *sigh*

Well, that's why I said, OK, Kidder looks awful in this particular pic, but yeah, Kate comes off as too bland for this role and more like an ice queen. She just doesn't have IT. Or maybe she was just TOO young for the role. Like others have said, Parker Posey should have been Lois Lane.

I've always felt that Lois should be older than Clark/Superman by about 3-5 years. That she should be a little more world weary and cynical and tough, and I like the idea of a tough, single, career woman who's had her fun falling like a sack of bricks for a good guy.
Kidder definitely had ALL of those qualities. So did Hatcher.
