We spent years on this board nitpicking the original. The reason you don't see it is because its been done to death.
Please link where this was said.

Its not an exact quote ye5man ;D ;D ;D
Its the way we all generally feel about STM. I happen to feel the same way about SR.

I must now fast forward thru the junk I don't care for in SR, basically anything not with Clark or Superman, and I REALLY enjoy the heck out of it. Like, a lot. Last time I watched it, I was like a pig in shit.

ye5man, it's pretty obvious that you are among the few but vocal detractors, obsessed with internet historical revisionism.
Where do I sign up?
(please)

Jason (to Lex): You're bald. ;D Ahhhh, ginger and bald...the last acceptable forms of prejudice. I found that line pretty lame, and that's not speaking as a baldy

the only genuinely funny moment of SR for me was Clark's reaction to Richard liking horror movies.

ye5man, i must know who those tits in your avatar belong to. i have to google wank over them. Fixed. Anyway, not sure there was any humour in SR. Routh bumping into things wasn't funny because he was consciously emulating Reeve which took away the spirit of spontaneity. A kid saying "You're bald" isn't funny. I really can't think of any other moments. Oh, Jimmy eating that thing was mildly amusing in the cinema. The reaction shot of Routh after that guy shoots him in the eye was too obvious. Sparkling dialogue in STM puts it to shame; great stuff between Kidder and Reeve

I thought the humor in STM that I enjoyed the most, was in the 'first date' with Lois and the subtle stuff that shows up versus the obvious (and often dumb) ones. (i.e. - the Daily Planet scene where Perry rants about whether or not Superman has a girlfriend & Kidder's face) The part where Clark and Lois get mugged? A bit over the top. Would have been interesting to see how this would have been played more seriously. The army stopping and all surrounding Teschmacher, and not being more alarmed about a possible ambush from all sides? Dumb. Larry Hackman was wasted for dumb bad sitcom schtick (which also peeks its head into Lethal Weapon 4). The dialogue was pretty lame (and embarrassing) in the spot where Lois asks if Supes can see the color of her underwear- but the idea of Superman as the ultimate celebrity and 'god' being interviewed by the goofiest reporter on the planet was charming and funny otherwise. Otis and Teschmacher? Bah. Weakens Lex as a credible villain all the way. I know he was toned down from the Puzo script, but still.... And on the flip side, he's HILARIOUS when he is pitted (as planned) as the 'used car salesman Lex' when overestimating his value with the Kryptonians in SII. (Far far better than the dumbass schtick that Lester stuck in with the villains and the Metropolis citizens) With SR- There is more humor in it than I would have thought, but it's DEFINITELY a darker humor than one would expect in a Supes film. Favorite moments: 'Weren't there TWO dogs?' ;D Jason looking up at the screen of Superman's closeup, and then looking up at Clark & recognizing the obvious: it's the same guy with glasses! And, rather than saying something, his asthma kicks up & reaches for his medicinal spray. Sam Huntington. Even with some of the smallest things, he puts a weird twist on, that makes me laugh - but still fits the character of 'Jimmy' as I'd see it (After seeing it was glad that Sam got the part over Iceman from Xmen). The bit with Clark bumping into things and Lex's obsession with Real Estate- 'eh'..... wasn't necessary, maybe it felt a little forced because we're SO familiar with the original, but wasn't enough to kill the movie by being there. imo. In any case, I really do hope/wish that Singer decides to one day finish his idea (rough as it may have been) in book or script form. At least those of us who loved SR can imagine what the film would have been like. If the movie was going to have Jason die at the end, and have Supes/Lois be characters that mourn their son, it may have been sad, but at least it would have completed a story arc that was unfiinished with them. And- it might have shooken up audiences by word of mouth that it was Donner's Superman, but something entirely new at the same time, had that happened, on a real level, not just removing the shorts.

There is plenty of humour in SR to my tastes. In fact, I prefer the humour in SR to the Donner movies. It feels more organic and appropriate, imo.
I HATE that whole sequence. It almost killz the whole movie for me. It's worse than Otis. I just totally skip this scene when watching the movie.
I dislike Otis, but miss Teschmacher doesn't really bother me overall.

I agree- the only part I HATED was Lex's step back from his henchmen when the crystal bit began to start an earthquake at the widow's mansion. Reason why? It made Lex look like a coward, for cheap laughs.
If anything, how much more powerful would Lex's character have appeared, if he stood still calmly (and seething with hatred) while his henchmen panicked and all heck was falling apart?
But, it's not the 'groan' moment that followed like in STM when Supes turns the world back. People were greatly into it, when she appeared to be dead & Supes goes into the clouds to see his father figure, but the time reversal thing is unintentionally funny & produced laughs here and there different times when it was viewed on the bigscreen.

I actually thought it made Lex look clever, with a bit of common sense...that thing was gonna go off. All it did was make his goons look stupid.

I'm with ral on this one. I also thought Lex seemed clever and cautious about it. The one Lex scene that makes me cringe is the one of him and Kitty stranded on the tiny island, didn't like how he yelled at her. He just came off as too silly, dunno.

Must admit I cant really see where the humour is in SR returns. In general its a mopey depressing film.
Clarks reaction to the horror film thing was actually quite funny.
Jason looking up at clark and noticing his resemblance to Superman.
Thats about it for me.
Like Kev, I cant really watch it unless I skip past any scene not involving superman.

ladies and gentlemen, lois dies in STM. how do you finish that movie if it's in your hands.
quit b!tching about it unless you can at least propose something that you believe makes more sense. I hate when people complain just for the sake of complaining.

I wonder about that too, but the emotional pay off of him disobeying his father, foreshadowing S2, is too good to miss

You will not interfere with human history.
The fact that he disobeys this rule for love is pretty fucking awesome. Plotholes be damned.
