No, there has no word of that at all.
The only way I could see it happening is:
a) Singer is able to come back and make a second film b) The movie is a big success c) WB acknowledges it as a big success
Without those three things, they'll have no interest in throwing money at a new cut of Superman Returns when they think (erroneously) that everyone hates it and/or it would not sell.

Bingo.
With Singer's MOS in hiatus nothing is going to happen. We just have to wait the waiting game.

what does any of that have to do with releasing the full cut on dvd, they already have it! and the profit margins on the dvd's are huge, IMO they would have to be stupid not to release it on dvd

It has to do with marketing. They don't just release something new like that without a reason. It has to ride along with something else. Case in point, we got special editions of the Batman movies when Batman Begins came to DVD. We got the Donner Cut and the other Superman special edition DVDs when Superman Returns came to DVD.
It's all about awareness. When awareness of a product is high (like when a new movie is coming to theaters or DVD), more consumers are likely to know about it, and therefore see it or buy it. That allows companies to release related products with less marketing cost than just releasing something separately. In this case, the only conceivable way we'll see a new cut of Superman Returns is if we get a sequel. If and when a sequel comes out, there will be an increased interest in Superman Returns.
I can vouch for that with The Dark Knight. The damn Blu-ray for Batman Begins was at a very long wait on Netflix until just a month ago.

arent they rereleasing SR on blueray? or why not release it to coincide with a dvd release of smallville etc.. there are so many opportunities

That's not a rerelease, but rather a reissue. They're probably responding to complaints that the HD-DVD had better audio than the Blu-ray did. They're only adding in two new audio tracks, and discontinuing the old disc.

I can't believe the sequel is on the verge of production heck Pathetic, Warner Bros, just pathetic. Right on. WB have never handled Superman with the care and respect the character deserves. Had WB fought to retain two individuals (in Donner and Mank) who believed and understood the character I feel the entire drama of miss-fired Superman projects might not have occurred. Imagine a Donner and Mank, Christopher Reeve Superman saga. It would've left Star Wars for dead. Now with regards to the topic at hand. I agree the extended cut of SR should be available, but honestly SR is more in need of a re-cut rather then an extended cut. It's long enough as it is.

Yep.
Do honestly believe the Donner Cut would have been made without SR being released? The Donner Cut was released because it was the year Superman made his return to the big screen. There was enough outcry from fans to release Donner's material and Superman Returns helped Donner's material see the light of day.
Also, we really don't know if Singer completed all the scenes in SR. They maybe unfinished. Singer may need to add special effects and that cost money. Then you have marketing and that cost lots of money. So, it isn't going to happen unless Singer makes the MOS.

I hope so, too. Maybe in 30 years Singer will release Superman Returns: The Bryan Singer Cut.
I'm sure once Bry delivers a killer script things will start rolling.

Lol. I thought I heard a long while back that the RTK footage is pretty much done but wasn't scored. And that Rob Burnett might be sitting on it at his home.** Alright, who's up for raiding his house? ;D ** Grain of salt, since my memory is faultier than the Millennium Falcon.

Now with regards to the topic at hand. I agree the extended cut of SR should be available, but honestly SR is more in need of a re-cut rather then an extended cut. It's long enough as it is. SR would be best served by a recut deleting some material from the theatrical version while at the same time utilizing additional material from the 'original' version. For example: SCENES I WOULD CUT -Noel Neil's scene. It's just...weird for many reasons, and the source of Luthor's affluence is probably better left ambiguous. He obviously had some source of wealth in the original films, so let's just keep it at that. -The Smallville flashback. It's completely extraneous. I see what Singer was trying to do with it, showing how once Clark and Jason discovered their powers they no longer needing their glasses/inhaler, but while that's fine for Jason, Clark's powers never worked that way. -Brando's voiceovers. I know it seems like blasphemy, but I think it's overdone. -Superman in the ER. This felt very "Lois & Clark"-esque. Superman in mundane situations like in a courtroom, in a jail cell, in the hospital, etc. It doesn't feel right. Fade to black when he crashes back to Earth, and fade back up on the "Superman Dead" headline. It's effective, and would not only do away with the ER scene, but Kryptonite shard still being INSIDE Superman's body while he LIFTED A CONTINENT. That just wouldn't be possible. -Lex and Kitty on the island. Humourous in theory, but really...how are they supposed to get off? SCENES I WOULD RE-INSERT -The infamous Return to Krypton scene. -ALL of the deleted/alternate Smallville scenes: Scrabble w/Ben Hubbard, Clark waking up, burying the spaceship and reading the old newspapers, and the alternate Martha scene w/Ben Hubbard and the awesome transition from the baseball to the Daily Planet. -The alternte beginning of the Lex/Kitty scene on the boat, with the wig. -The approach to the Fortress where Kumar has dialogue. -The sub-plot of Jimmy on hard times with his photography, which includes the extended bar scene where Clark says he's "always had a pretty high tolerance." -Clark's original first transformation into Superman where he changes in the storage room, paying off the scene where he'd placed his luggage there. -Luthor retrieving the crystals before leaving the boat. -The plotpoint of Luthor planting the story about Krypton, tricking Superman to leave Earth.

ROTFL. Heh. Yeah, I felt pretty much all the deleted scenes were stuff that shouldn't have been left out. And I too LOVED that baseball transition. Brilliant.

"stalker"man is another one i'd omit... I see both sides of the argument: he's just checking in on her for an inside peek at her life/he's taking advantage of his powers and invading her privacy. It's understandable on his part, but at the same time questionable for someone of his high moral standard. I think that's the point though; Superman's not quite himself yet and is conflicted about how to proceed, in particular with Lois. I'd keep it. SR has many flaws, but the supposed "Stalkerman" is just nitpicking IMO and not seeing it's place in the overall story.

"stalker"man is another one i'd omit... I love that scene. It's so full of subtext. We see Superman as the outsider, the alien, and I see so much regret in his eyes. Besides, it was shocking to him to find Lois in a new relationship...and with a son! After all, he thought she was the type of girl that would never settle down. And ditto to what Kirok said as well. Superman was not stalking Lois or being a peeping tom. Superman derived no pleasure from his actions. He was eavesdropping. If that's a cardinal sin then we're all going to heck. Also, it not like he has never done before. He has done it in practically every incarnation: the comics, Lois & Clark, Smallville, and even in STM to some point......."Pink" ;D. But people only complained when it happened in SR...
