The pic of him on the roof top,he looks excellent... But,that pic of him holding up the globe,it looks like he has two capes on,a dark one and a lighter on inside ?

The identification with Routh and Reeve was a mixed bag: I was ecstatic just that Singer could find a human being that seemed to have such a resemblance to Reeve's look AND voice. On the flip side, I've mentioned having a couple of problems with a couple of line readings in the film... and it is hard not to compare. (Though at the same time, I also had issues with some of Reeve's line readings in Superman 3 and 4). Cavill looks so much like Jason Patric in the photos I've seen, I just hope that he comes off differently in the film! I know that a good chunk of folks see "Superman" when they see him, but it's hard for me to see that- not because of Routh/Reeve, but because of his physical looks. I was ok with Ben Affleck as Daredevil, but never felt like I was watching Daredevil, but Affleck giving his best, and I went with it. Cavill may be the same way- but, again, seeing the movie will be the best judge. I never thought Anthony Hopkins as Nixon or Kurt Russell as Elvis would have worked, but in those movies, they were able to pull it off. On first glance in the film, though, I saw "Superman" with Routh, but right now I just see "Jason Patric" when I'm seeing these photos with Cavill, but I seem to be the only one who has that problem.

I think Reeve was quite hammy with the (brilliant) Hackman in Superman 4

I thought Hackman really seemed to be enjoying himself in SIV. Even in the deleted scenes I found him entertaining.
Still makes me laugh that apparently Lex Luthors wigs are BALDING by that point.

One of the worst bits with Reeve imo was with Superman 3, when he's shouting at the already-panicked folks to hurry up. I know there's been a thread about this, but I always felt that for a character that could move at super-speed and be invulnerable/etc. --- that he realize that (1) if he used all his powers, he would never really need to shout at anyone, he could just force them to do it in an instant, (2) if he was someone who had a giant heart, but had all the training in the universe, that he'd be the best of Kirk and Spock--- without the weaknesses, and that he'd be the calm center of a storm.
The shouting and screaming seemed to feel like, "This scene isn't very dramatic or have a lot of scale. Let's have the main actor be LOUD to put energy in the scene."
Superman only lost his cool at the very end of STM- and how powerful was that? It's been said before.... If only Donner were in charge of the series, with his attention to character, what a set of movies those would have been.....*sigh*

Well, there were explosions, fire engines and people panicking...I think the shouting was required.

I think it goes to over-humanizing Superman. A normal joe shmoe who's overwhelmed might also panic and scream to get everyone to follow directions- but...
Donner approached him as if he were a God, and by comparison, (especially in the STM IRC), that moment in SIII in particular didn't seem very god-like.
By contrast, there's a great moment in the STM IRC during the power plant disaster, where people are hurt, sparks are going everywhere- but as soon as Superman shows up, even then, everyone is wowed- and Supes is a clear calm leader there and all eyes look to him for direction, even with chaos all around.
((*Plus, I've had bosses who were screamers under pressure, and bosses who were calm leaders under pressure.... Always felt there was more strength shown with the ones who kept their composure, even during stressful situations. ))
But- ultimately, I just don't think Lester handled the situation right. The situation looked too much like a tv movie, nothing close to the excitement and danger of the helicopter rescue in STM- and it just seemed like Supes faced far worse situations with much more calm in the first two movies. If it was directed differently (or better), I might have felt like the danger level was really high enough and that the yelling was more warranted by Supes.

Eh I think Supes just realized the urgency of the situation.

Stuff like this is why Huntington was a good Jimmy Olsen. He really embodied Jimmy's goofiness. ;D
We all talk about Routh but its a shame we'll never see Sam as Jimmy again. For me he was only behind Larson and McClure

Sam Huntington was one of the elements in Superman Returns I really enjoyed. He brought all of the goofiness you expect from Jimmy Olsen, but with a little more depth. I love that Jimmy was the first person Clark opened up to after he came back. That's one thing we never really saw with Donner's Jimmy Olsen; we never really saw him be Clark's pal in a meaningful way.

Larson is still my favorite Jimmy of all time, but Huntington is a close 2nd.

Sam is my fave Jimmy too, though I haven't seen Lois&Clark. I also like how we see him as Supes' pal, those two have really good chemistry together. I also like how Jimmy has his little arc in the movie; he's sort of a loser at his job, but near the end he finally gets the pictures of Supes he so wanted.

Larson runs hot and cold for me. I think he was brilliant in season 1, but by the colour seasons he could be a bit annoying.
I didn't really care too much for Huntington. He was OK but didn't stand out.

Agreed. Huntington was a great suprise - at first I thought Singer's first choice (Ashmore/Iceman) would have been better....but separating Cyclops from Richard was a lot easier (maybe because we didn't always see James Marsden's eyes in the Xmen series) than it might have been for seeing Shawn Ashmore in the film.

Cool find. That's the music from the Genesis demo video that was playing in the cabin of the plane; only a small snippet was actually heard in the film.
It's no Luthor's Luau, but it's okay I guess.

I've had that track for years.
It's on the complete score.

Can't even call it "complete". I got ahold of a later bootleg which has a rendition of the Prelude, which the complete one didn't have.
Bah, there's way too much unreleased stuff for this movie, even with RTK being made available.
