Because Batman Begins sucked.
It didn't suck because it had a recap yet we were expected to know what happened in STM and S2? That "recap" was superfluous.

Agreed. Although he didn't really get to act and pretty much channelled Reeve anyway. My primary reason why I want a 100% fresh take for the next one. I wish they'd have given him more to do including dialogue.

Larson is still my favorite Jimmy of all time, but Huntington is a close 2nd. on balance, i'd say that larson and mcclure are probably the most important, in terms of a series becoming iconic and defining the characters for a generation. that said, Huntington is the most enjoyable/likeable/enjoyable. to me. |

Larson is the quintessential Jimmy. A ton of that characters personality is based on what he did. McClure was good in his own right. loved what he did too. I did like seeing him get more character moments in the international version of Supergirl.
Huntingtons not my favorite but he carried the torch brilliantly. He got it.
On of the worst fucking things Lois & Clark did when they cast Justin Whalin was to try to make Jimmy this tiger beat cover hearthrob for the tween girls. Jimmy is the guy why wants to be cool but fails hilariously. The movies and STAS nailed that.

Smallville didn't either... Smallville didn't get a lot of things right. ;D Thats like picking on a special Olympics kid. Their season long buildup of Darkseid was EPIC FAIL. I saw a puff of smoke and some bats...so Darkseid was secretly Grandpa Munster? |

I thought the last shot of Welling ripping the shirt open was amazing. Exactly how I pictured the show ending. All that other filler garbage...not so much. All that crap they did to try to NOT show Welling in the suit was ridiculous.
They can spout every garbage excuse they want to about how it was "about Clarks journey" but it as hilarious how they had to work around not showing Superman. If they wanted to focus to be on Clarks journey why not have him become Superman at the very end? They just wrote themselves into a corner.
They had all season to plan all that out and they could have made the appropriate changes in the writing stages but it seems like SOMETHING happened there. Wether it was WB telling them they couldn't show Welling in the full costume budget issues, or Welling being a tool. Wish they would clear that up if they haven't already.

There were more problems with the finale than just Welling avoiding been seen in the suit. The whole thing was so anticlimatic. The only scene I really liked was when he went to the FOS and 'put on' the suit.

Interesting that Eva Marie Saint is the same age as Phyllis Thaxter. Its like Martha aged in real time since STM and no one else did ;D Useless geek trivia moment...carry on ;D |

I doubt WB will ever share who's really responsible for that decision- There's no motivation for them to do so, and they must know by now that most of the fans were not crazy about that decision.... and they can't go back and change it, anyhow. Unless......someone talks about it on the commentary on the dvd set coming out....  |

Loved her as Martha. It's so heartbreaking when you see her outside the hospital because she can't even see her son in his dying bed.  At least she sees Lois coming out. She knew Clark really cared for her. Cool vid..

I definitely think Rouths look is underrated. I think the suit itself kind of took away from his build by the way parts of it were designed.
Cavills got a good broad build he just doesn't have Rouths height. Looking at some of the recent pics I think Routh had a better jawline for Superman.

In my opinion, he much more physically fit the role than Cavill's stocky look. I agree with everything you said. Brandon has an amazing look for Superman, imo. Cavill is good looking, but he doesn't say Superman to me. He reminds me of Prince William.   |

Routh looks do much like a CK underwear model at times. Too fresh faced for me in alot of shots.
He wore a muscle suit too but no doubt he put on good size for the role.

The shoulder pads in Routh's suit were too bulky. It threw off the proportions of his body, and didn't do his physique any favors. It's not totally terrible in the film, but it looks pretty silly in still shots. The suit needed to compliment his build in a way that makes sense and looks natural, and it definitely didn't do that.  |
