The big missed emotional moment would have been (for me) the "where did you go?" moment from Lois on the rooftop.
He should/could have gotten a little teary eyed... re-living the graveyard he saw and knowing he's the last. Perhaps even explaining a little more to Lois so she might see that it was a painfull experience and really not a joy-ride.
Granted, it wasn't clear at that moment that many scenes wouldn't make it in. Shame.

Granted, it wasn't clear at that moment that many scenes wouldn't make it in. Shame. I wouldn't have minded that either; I always felt that kind of gut-punching sight was glossed over, although it was because that whole sequence was cut, so they didn't bother making much reference to the trauma. But then they would have had to eliminate him getting wibbly over Lois denying she ever loved him, since there's enough complaints over him "crying" once. They'd label him an outright baby if he did it twice. That reminds me, a poster named KalMart on the Planet forum made a fan cut using the Ben Procter artwork to insert a scene of Superman describing his journey to Krypton to Lois in the middle of the rooftop scene. I'd have liked it if he was a lot more haunted and sheckshocked when Martha asked him about Krypton. The way he responded to her felt too casual.

Picked up this 90 card set the other day, quality set but what amazed me was the amount of cards in the set that were of scenes that were NOT in the movie...I love it when that happens

A friend gave me the complete set for my birthday last year. You're right about the deleted scenes featured; Krypton, Smallville, and Ben Hubbard are all over!

The changing into the Superman suit at the Planet when the shuttle thing is happening is in the cards, too.

NIIICE! Thanks, guys! (Jor-L and subzero) My favorites are: - Kal-El's Quest. It looks so alien and mysterious! - His City imperiled. Love that deleted scene. Brandon sounds and and looks like totally Superman to me there, even though some fans think the scene is cheesy.. Here is the link to view the scene: ca.youtube.com/watch?v=iZMUYALFOaQ&NR=1- Soaring to new heights. Wow! He looks great there. Is it possible to get a link to this one but a little bit bigger please..

We NEED to see these scenes. Superman in the 'egg' type structure, is this what he's in to return to earth? That's not the whole ship for when he's exploring Krypton right?

Ive just watched SR again for the first time since i saw it in the cinema 2 years ago so it was kinda fresh for me. When you see a superman movie you want the feel good factor and an adrenaline rush, are there any moments like that in SR for people? Me personally i enjoyed the movie but it didnt give me a "buzz". In STM from the opening credits, supermans first appearance and the helicopter sequence are but a few scenes that after 30 years still make you go WOW. And this is not a question about special effects, SR beats STM in that department (but not all occasions). The helicopter sequence in STM is quite short but its written well and put together right, and along with the music it ROCKS. In SR the plane sequence is longer, looks better but for me nowhere near hits the spot, it seems too complex and looks as though they tried to cram too much into the sequence. So special effects arent everything its story telling, but after 30 years experience you'd think someone would be able to recreate a feel good superman movie, can they ever better STM? And does SR have these great moments but im just not seeing them?

I felt a buzz after catching SR. It was a feel-good movie for me. I saw it another three times in theaters. Unlike other movies where I'm satisfied and ready to go, I was stoked to see it again.
I loved seeing the opening credits on the big screen, though they weren't as powerful as STM.

SR does nothing for me, i know what you mean Christopher. Then you go back and watch The originals and you get the genuine Superman buzz that you describe. It's the same way when you watch the Star Wars original Trilogy after seeing the pathetic prequels with jar jar & gang.

Even though SR had Singer's name attached to it, I was worried whether or not the film could/would work with a complete unknown.... and how SR would be faithful to what I thought Superman was (Basically a superpowered boy scout), but engage me as a moviegoer and get me emotionally invested in the character.
As soon as the starship fell out of the skies, with all the delicacy taken in the storytelling - and as soon as Routh spoke about returning to Krypton, I knew the movie (and the character) was in safe hands, and I just had this GIANT sigh of relief that I wouldn't be convincing myself I liked the movie just because of Singer's good intentions, but that he really nailed how to make the character (in essence) based on the mold that Reeve/Donner made for Supes---- and yet update him to this generation at the same time.
STM had a great 'buzz' over certain scenes, but the reversing time ending has always felt flat- like seeing the flaw in someone you thought was perfect. You accept it because everything else is great--- whereas with SR, the ending was incredibly moving to me, and I did have a 'feel good' moment in a different way than the best of STM's scenes.
STM always appeals to the inner 7 year old; SR appeals/appealed to me as a cynical old man. It showed a harsher view of the world Superman lives in, and in its way, it made Superman's sense of hope shine even brighter than the Donner film.
Would I have enjoyed SR as a 14 year old, though? I don't know.... it may have been too intense and not enough action at that age. As an adult, though, SR feels far more like a great science fiction film whereas STM appeals as a great fantasy film. I love 'em both, but in different ways- and love that they are (sortof) connected.

SR has plenty of feel good moments but it also has some adult themes that make me think.

SR was a "warm" movie, as my ex-wife put it. And I have to agree. The movie, to me, was the best way to reintroduce the character. I had a great buzz while watching this movie, I mean it's freaking Superman!

The plane rescue was of the most exciting sequences I've seen in a movie. Superman getting the applause from the crowd was a great feel good moment, too.
