maybe if he [Welling ] was this popular actor doing popular movies in Hollywood, and his show getting rave reviews and getting stelar ratings, but he isn't and it's not. Neither was Reeve. If Welling didn't have the Smallville stigma, I'm guessing more people would think he looks ideal for the role. I certainly do. He looks more Superman than skinny, padded suited, pencil necked Routh did

If only the closing Sept 8th 2006 sign was for Smallville! ;D It will be hard to tell just who WB wants for the new film. heck they almost made Nolan cast David "Bore"ez as Batman, Nolan wanted Bale and so did the fans, the net hype helped him convince WB. Maybe the same thing could happen for Routh? But then again Nolan has much more power now than then. Nolan will probably get to cast whoever he wants, and from what I hear it's Nick Cage!

I guess I'll support whoever Nolan chooses, even if it was as crazy as Nic Cage. Because at the end of the day, Nic Cage or anyone else isn't Robert Pattinson. Unless its Robert Pattinson.

Yeah, I gathered as much. Just having fun with it. Although I wouldn't find it impossible for them to cast a 46 year old long-standing Superman associated joke. If I hadn't seen Memento, Insomnia, Batman Begins, The Prestige, and The Dark Knight that is.

Nah, not necessarily. That skin colored part under his neck may be actually PART of the suit he's wearing to look like part of his neck and chest.

Just above the \S/, there's smudging along the neckline.

it always reminded me of a mug shot. its like what happened if good Superman hadn't killed evil Superman in III and evil Superman got his own movie. he looks wasted. too much Kryptonian Crystalline Meth.

Indeed. Great attitude he has. I bet he's an awesome dude.
But if he ain't gonna be Superman, goddamn if I'm not all for Tom Welling getting it. I think he's almost ready. He needs to work out and cut his hair and gain a bit more subtlety to his performance, but yeah...I'm good for Welling being in this. But I'm sure it won't happen.
Are you all up for another no name?

Welling is too fagy for superman. I love smallville but I would hate Welling as sups.

Routh's voice sounds more superman compared to Welling
He also has a quiet presence about him that shouts superman, but Welling has to always be moving, acting, superfeats & all, to look superman-ly

i hope this doesn't turn into a routh vs welling thread but i definitely do not want welling anywhere near a superman movie. i never liked his "acting" and he does not look like superman at all. he's far too feminine looking.

Never mind that Welling is only a year younger than Reeve was when he was shooting Superman IV, and still looks younger than Reeve in STM.
When Welling finishes Smallville in 2011, he will be 34. He will stop playing young Clark Kent at the same age as when Chris Reeve stopped playing SUPERMAN. ;D

You know what. Reeve survived 3 directors and 2 or 3 production companies/ producers, why cant routh, no difference here...

Yeah, but Reeve's Superman movies didn't go through a complete change throughout their universe. They were all more or less set in the Donner established universe. As was Singer's. Nolan's won't be set in such a beast. It'll be a brand new thing altogether. So Routh is less likely to survive this transition than Reeve was in his.
