Shyamalan's After Earth movie was pushed up one week, coming now on 5/31 instead of 6/7. Afraid of Man of Steel on 6/14, perhaps?
Funny sidenote - after all the stuff he's made already, this is Zack Snyder's first summer movie.

Maybe there's a word of mouth since the latest trailer release?

That's really good news if Columbia Pictures feels that it won't make its money with just one week before Man of Steel. And I'm not surprised this is Synder's first summer movie. His films always came out in the spring with the exception of the owl movie.

The trailer looks great, I feel more secure on the visuals from this, than the first trailer. I did have the worry of too much shakicam, (not to say that that can't still happen, but...), but this trailer looks fantastic if it is a good representation of how the film will be. And the actors look GREAT here. Cavill, Crowe, Amy Adams. Hm.
The highest point for me early on is Costner's "You ARE my son". Tearjerker moment from the Secret Origins comic and here.
Musicwise, I think I had expectations far too high. I generally worship Hans Zimmer's scores, but didn't fall immediately in love with the score like I did with his Lion King, Backdraft, Days of Thunder, and the Rock scores.
It could be different with the actual film, will see.
Still--- the fears haven't completely gone away. I've been burned too many times before by a fantastic trailer, but a disappointing film that resulted.
At the same time, I find myself more nervous/excited at the same time than ever before in regards to this films on how good it MIGHT be.
The weird alien/h.r. gigeresque look to Krypton actually seems to work here- just as the film looks like it'll work as an 'Elsewhere' type of Superman film. It won't replace the type of work Donner/Singer did, but it really does look like it's own thing.
It feels different and recognizable enough as Superman overall here, with those touchstone origin moments.
I know many seem to feel there's no way this film can lose with having seen this trailer. I hope they're right..... really hope so, but will feel safer once I see the whole thing.

It could totally lose. I'm not expecting it to be great. I'm just hoping for it and the trailer made that hope feel good. But look, it's still by Zack Snyder. I can't be 100% certain about the movie with that fact glaring at me. heck, even if it was Matthew Vaughn, I'd still reserve judgment. Trailers fuck us over too often. I doubt it's the case here, but sure, it could be.

Yeah, it's not that I think this is a "can't miss" based on this trailer. But I am WAY more excited by it than I EVER thought possible given who the director is and my initial misgivings.
I saw everything I wanted to see in those three minutes. It looks action packed, heavy on the sci-fi, with good music, but it also looks like it has humanity and heart. I could be wrong about the last two (it's a lot to infer from a few lines of dialogue, etc), but I'm pretty sure I'm right about the first three.
So far, I'm happy with the look, the sound, and the casting. If the total execution lives up to that, then great. If anything I'm pretty confident that there's very little chance that this movie will out and out SUCK. We haven't had that "oh no" moment we got with the early Green Lantern footage and images.

I loved the trailer, think I;ve made it clear I've loved everything I've seen from it so far. But I'm still quite nervous about the film too, it's hard not to be. Really hoping it's fantastic and Snyder gets to make the doubters eat shit. It's a no win situation for him anyway. If it sucks they'll say "Fucking Snyder, he's shit". If it's brilliant they'll say "Ahh Nolan, he can do no wrong" despite it is apparently very much Snyder's baby.
One point on the film so far. One thing I DIDNT like when I first heard it was that there would be many scenes where his cape would be CGI. I just didn't like the idea of it. Seeing the trailer? I take it all back. The way his cape flows is amazing, it adds so much to his god like appearance and I don't think they could have achieved that flowing swirling look without it.

Last I checked, we can purchase some red polyester at the dollar store, and they can borrow the battery-powered cape-flapper from Zoran Perisic's attic. In all seriousness, a cape doesn't need to be made on a computer.

Seeing as it's never looked nearly as good on film before where it hasn't been done digitally I'll disagree.

Decent interview with Cavill. Did anyone else know he was an extra in Proof of Life as a kid and he met Russell Crowe who ended up sending him a signed photo without him even asking for it?
Thought that was very cool

Generally speaking, I would agree--- but in terms of fantasy films, I've found myself on both sides of the argument on a case by case basis. For something dreamlike, like Blade Runner or 300, I don't mind many elements being CGI--- so long as it looks good and enhances, rather than takes away from the experience. On the other hand--- On seeing "Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome", which was totally greenscreen, the fx guys went so overboard on adding things, that I found it took me out of the story- even with it being a scifi/fantasy piece. So..... hard to say I think about what feels like too much CGI without seeing the whole package.... In Snyder's case, for whatever else I may have felt about Sucker Punch and Watchmen, I did think that visually and stylistically, Snyder more often than not made smart choices in mixing the CGI and practical..... so, I'm not too worried (with this trailer) about the CGI choices Snyder made/will make with MOS. A bit sad that we're all still speculating on the final product, though..... Almost wish they'd push up the release date!

There were a few scenes in SR in which a CGI cape on a live Routh was noticeable. Not bad enough that it's obviosu, but one of those small things you'd see in repeat viewings.
Spawn ... now that was a hecka bad CGI cape.

In 25 years, someone will start a forum for lovers of MOS, and we'll look like a bunch of old farts.
At least, I hope so. Will this generation cling to a movie with such devotion? Or are we of a special generation, spoiled by fantasy films from the imaginations of the Spielbergs and Lucases and the Donners of the time? Films stand the passage of time because the fans keep watching even after the film is no longer relevant to society. Good ones are called classic. Bad ones are called cult.
I wonder what the fate of this film will be.

To be honest, there hasn't been a single shot so far to me where the cape looks fake. I think they really spent a lot of time doing the cgi cape right or this movie.
WB must know of the backlash it got for the shitty cgi cape and superman from SR that they didn't want to go through that again

I don't care if CGI's used as long as it's used well.
